Turbine PIC Multi or Single?

I am curious to know how important Multi-PIC is? I have 2500 hours TT and 1500 of that is Multi-SIC in a CRJ. I am currently unemployed and wondering if it would benefit me to pick up Turbine PIC in a Caravan. At this point any flight time helps as long as I can afford it, but I am just trying to weigh the benefits.

Being employed is always better than being unemployed.... shoot during my first furlough I drove 172's around west Texas.... just keep your bank statement in the black and in an airplane if you can.... worrying about what type of flying right now in this industry is pretty unimportant. Again... and say it with me this time.... Money, QOL, stay current. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Unless it is jet, single engine turbine won't help you get a job at most airlines. Might was well be piston time for that.

ehh, I wouldn't say it WONT help. It's all about minimums. If they're mins ask for multi-turbine than there ya go. I think turbine time is good no matter how many engines it has. Someone with a ton of caravan time flying real world single pilot IFR is gonna get my vote over someone instructing in a 172 or flying traffic watch ONLY.

what about real world single pilot IFR all across the country in every class bravo imaginable, in a 172?

MY HOURS ARE BETTER THAN YOUR HOURS WAHHHHHH

who cares.

Well yes, I can respect that. But the question was about turbine time and single engine turbine time being more or less worthless. I've done single pilot IFR in a Baron and a King Air. I can tell you my Baron time was much more challenging. However, it doesn't mean much in my logbook...

Bite your tongue! ;) Multi PIC is multi PIC. In fact, 1000 multi PIC is often a cut-off for insurance requirements on certain aircraft.

Turbine time is turbine time, most companies that require some turbine time it doesnt matter for the most part what its in. Of all the things in my logbook employers are most interested in my Pilatus time, regardless if the company operates them or not.

Sure (and I don't mean this as a slam), but that's because the Pilatus is probably the only airplane you've flown professionally. Am I right?

Worry about putting food on the table first, THEN career progression.

I see your point no I fly a Meridian as well. And some small piston singles but everyone I interview with loves the turbine time they don't really single out the pilatus exactly but I don't have 1 hour of turbine multi which sucks but hasn't been the reason for not getting jobs as far as I can tell.

All I'm saying is, go for it. Put money in your pocket and at the same time fill your logbook because you're golden either way!

I have already been employed by an airline. I have a little over 1500 hours of SIC in the CRJ200,700 and 900. Are you speaking of getting on with a Major airline?

Yes. Sorry, last time I paid attention to the quals for regionals they were all still "commuter airlines"!

OK, How ever you want to put it. My flight time meets Delta Air Lines minimums. I realize those aren't competitive, however that was not my question. I am also don't plan on ever returning to part 121 flying.

I am interested in part 91,135 opps to be more specific. I have 1500 hours of turbine time in a multi so I was just wondering how well if at all, flying a caravan would look on a resume.

Why is being a captain on a CRJ 'qualifications' for being a first officer in a 737 (or anything else). Weird.

White,

Do whatever it takes to pay the bills, but when you finally have a chance to choose what kind of flight time is best for you, go for whatever is going to give you PIC. You have 2500 hours now, and said 1500 SIC, so i'd imagine you got onto your regional around 1000TT?

For better or for worse, many people in the part 91/135 world are not going to care about your 1,500 hours of part 121 SIC time...Do whatever you need to do to build more command time.

Yes, that is correct. I got hired with 1006 hours TT. I currently have 825 PIC, but that is all piston time.

The part 121 SIC time will account for 1500 hours of turbine time and EFIS experience. I know companies like netjets and shares really like the Glass time and CRM training. I agree with you though. I need to pay the bills, which is the main reason that I am looking at this. I was just curious down the road if say I am applying for a job, would the interviewer say well, you have turbine PIC time, but that really means nothing to us because it's single engine?
