trying to deside between mesa, airsafety or d

ATP doesn't just offer the inst/comm, it comes with the private multi-engine rating (another $2200), and instructor certs (another what $4000?)

That's another $6200, plus the training materials that are a part of ATP's cost that aren't in yours, that's another $500+ . . .

. . . $33,000 approx. May still beat ATP, but Ari is less.

At any rate, for those looking . . . look at every possible angles. Some who have taken the FBO route have wished they went academy while others were glad they did the FBO route . . . some who went academy wished they went FBO while others don't regret their decision.

My point is there are many variables and just figure out which one will work for you both present and future wise.

Hello again.

So far I have been thinking that i might end up doing either the ari ben aviator program or the atp 90 days fast track. I haven't had much luck jet getting information from ari ben (getting them to call me back) but i understand they just went through a hurricane etc.

the local FBO roue so far is not panning out too well for me right now. I live in new york and i haven't found out much information about any really good school here so far...

The power has been out at Ari-Ben from the Hurricane.

and the other schools you listed are waaaaay overpriced.

Check out Ari Ben Aviator, and Airline Transport Professionals( ATP), they have the fastest and best programs/prices in my opinion, and you end up with a ton of multi engine time...you'll learn that multi time is golden when your looking for an airline job!

A couple of things here.... First, not all of the other schools mentioned are way over priced. I know alot of people that spent thousands more at an FBO than I did at Flight Safety. What you spend depends on YOU.

I would stay as far away from Ari-Ben as possible if you want good training in qaulity, well maintained aircraft. I have toured their school and have seen their buckets first hand. ATP has a decent program and nice A/C. The problem with programs like theirs is they are to accelerated. They push you through so fast that there is little time to build the foundation you need. It is like "rote" learning. If you do decide on ATP, then take the time to absorb everything and digest what you are learning or you will suffer down the road.

At last, make sure you tour at least three of your top choices and be sure to talk with the students while you are there. Outside of the degree programs I recommend touring Flight Safety. They have a solid program and you can finish up at UNDER $50,000 private thru MEI. Remember, that also includes spatial disorientation training, upset attitude recovery training in an aerobatic plane, and approximately 75 hours of multi thru MEI. As an instructor here at FSA you will have approx. 600-700 multi hours when your total time reaches approx. 1200TT.

Be sure to really disect the programs and see WHAT you are getting for your hard earned (borrowed) student loans.

Good luck.....ILS

Get the Private first, then you will have a better understanding of what you are looking for in these big time flight schools. You may find that you don't want to fly for a living. Also I have noticed that the sales pitch changes if you are a private pilot from that of a student. I am going through the same dilemas right now. ATP is great if you plan on staying with them through all your instructing, but if you dont, be prepaired. If you want to go somewhere else and teach you will have very little single engine land time which is what the majority of students are looking for. Multi-time (or should I say recent multi-time) is vital for a job at the regionals. The fact remains that most will have to instruct after training to build hours. My plan is to train for that job right now. Multi will come. Get the ratings first. There is a success story for every school as well as a failure. It will all boil down to you in the end and how you fly the sim ride at the interview. Just my 2 cents.
