Re: True story??? A WWII airman shoots down a Japanese Zero

I actually don't live in Utah I just sleep in SLC at night. I live in Cedar this week but have lived in Idaho, Wyoming or Nevada during my career at AMF.

Very interesting and probably a 1:1,000,000 shot. But if it did happen at least he got some payback for dead crewmembers. There no freaking reason to shoot a guy in parachute. That is inexcuseable..

I read a store in AOPA or Flying sometime back where a bomber was badly wounded and lost and totally SOL and heading deeper into the enemy territory. As the story a goes a german fighter pulled up along side and saw all the damange and didn't have the heart to finish the plane off and turned them around toward friendly territory, saluted them and turned away.

Pretty cool story actually.

I don't know what the official firearm of Texas is. All I know is that I love my primary carry piece—Walther P99c AS.

Whats you state firearm?

Kentucky Long Rifle. Think more Daniel Boone and less Tacticool.

Also: I was once invited to see Franz Stigler speak. Missed the opportunity, but everyone there said that it was as moving as you might have expected it to be. Someday (we hope), we'll all be old. Here's to hoping we have something amidst all this blood and chaos to be so proud of.
