"I can't afford to leave Skywest and go on new hire pay. Besides, I got weekends off and haven't worked Christmas in six years…"
Less competition for you. And less headaches for me.I hear this from just about every senior captain I fly with. Even if you stay an FO, you'll make up the pay 2nd year, and with the amount of hiring happening right now, you'll probably have the schedule back by the fourth or fifth.
Idiots!

That's why I don't want them in the right seat here. Would most likely make for a very long trip. They don't get it. They see that there was 15-20 year FO's at one point in time, and how stagnant the list was/is at our shop, and equate that to the entire industry. Seems like the older people get, the more disconnected from reality they become.

Just flew with someone who was telling me about "that guy" in his new hire class who wanted to argue about everything and how "at my old company" they, apparently, did it better."Hey, this is 'Frank', he's new with us. He is going to shadow me on my brief"
"Well, I'm not new, I spent 18 years as captain at Mesaba"
Amount of people who gave a poop: Zero.

My response was/is always, "this is not your old old company, this is your new company. You're more than welcome to go back to your old company if your please." I get the last part may come of snarky, but it conveys the point nicely.Just flew with someone who was telling me about "that guy" in his new hire class who wanted to argue about everything and how "at my old company" they, apparently, did it better.
He's the youngest on the last award and overall I believe. Him and another are very close in age. 30-31.Congrats! How old are you / youngest Delta CA post-merger?![]()
