Transfer into Business Jet Direct?

For everyone's information, I received the following from Jackie at FSA in answer to this question:

"With regards to the Business Jet Direct Program and the requirements, you are not required to complete all three instructor ratings at FSI nor are your required to have the to be eligible for BJD - you simply need to have the CFI. To be eligible for the FlightSafety Business Jet Direct Track you need to have completed either CFI or CFII and MEI at the FlightSafety Academy. If you already have all three instructor certificates, you can complete a "screeening/evaluation course" to determine if you meet the standard for the program. - my only concern with this scenario is that you may be a little behind the curve when it comes to the interview. - The interview is the same interview process that we hold for individuals who want to become an instructor at the Academy. In order to make it through the interview you need to proove that you are a proficient pilot and meet the FSI standard. - I think this can be a little challenging for some if they are not familiar with the FSI standard."

I get the sense that the BJD program has more open slots than applicants.

When I visited FS last year about this time I also got the impression that they were looking for instructors. This is comming from both the CFI that gave me the tour and Jackie. I'd definately like to do the Business Jet Direct Program, especially once I get some more hours in. I'm right at about 400hrs with my Commercial Single/Multi and CFI. If you're interested, also check out CAE Simuflite. They also have a right-seat program. This, however, is unpaid and contracted for a year. The plus side is you are not required to fly or be at the center for a specified time. This allows you to pick up some other job on the side.

I have recently been hired by FSA to instruct. My standardization class starts in March. Yes FSA needs instructors. So many people are going through AATP program instead of CFI. From what I hear, Eagle wants to hire everyone from FSI (generalization). In fact, they have completely dropped minimums for right now. It used to be 336/36. That along with new foreign contracts and a general increase in enrollment has FSA hurting for instructors. They have even increased pay to help retain instructors longer.

I forgot to mention in my last post that I will be doing the Business Jet Direct program once my 800 hour contract is complete. I believe that the perks of corporate are better than any regional. That is just my opinion. I wouldn't mind the major airline salary though.

Congrats bud -- I'm about to wrap up CFI there; I'll be interviewing in March, but I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to stay. Heading over to a jet center, and instructing on the side. I already have an instructor gig waiting for me once I get back home, thankfully. Best of luck to you!

We just lost 7 instructors to different jobs too. It's crunch time right now for CFIs.

Yeah man, the big hit with the loss of instructors is gonna make things interesting around here.

Gotta get the Comm Multi and SEAD done by middle march I guess :P
(Waiting for Instrument Final Stage Check now)

Yeah, heard about that. We were already short, FSA really can't afford that kind of attrition. Who knows, it may be the perfect time to instruct there...you sure wouldn't have an issue with getting enough hours.
