Trans States to GoJets

It's like saying "A Gulfstream guy got hired at UPS, so PFJ must be okay". I really don't think so....

Nor do I.

I'm not sure how many times we've got to re-explain it! :)

10+15 = 25...

28-3 is still 25...

100 divided by 4 is, surprise! 25....

The square root of 625 is.... 25!

"Yeah, but if I take 75 and divide it by three, would it be 25?"

Its just one of those things thats difficult to say. I suppose if you had a four year degree and could do something else it would make life easier (And I know Doug stresses it so I'll remind you all to get a degree) but if TSA was all you had in a stagnant industry I think it would almost be a necessity. now, at the present moment I would NEVER go to Gojet, but in harder times I think some are right in that you need to take what you get as a means to an end. Just my .02

its not scab work in my opinion but it is freedom work. they are taking the path that mesa did years ago. is it right? i cant judge since i am not technically in the industry. would i go there? not while others are hiring. if they were the only ones then yes i am not going to lie i would put an app in. its all about timing and options. everyone has a different situation. i am not the one to judge.

Freedom work?

Whether it is the only airline job in the country or not, if you take a job that is there becuase X company is shafting another pilot, then you are considered guilty.

Example: Say Alaska Airlines pilots go on strike and they decide to hire scabs. If the industry is doing really well and there is not a single pilot job except the scab position at Alaska, you are still not to take it. It is still unacceptable. Why? Because that job is there specifically to take a job away from another pilot. That's why the excuses don't work. You are stabbing another pilot in the back to get that job. GoJet is considered about as bad because they used it to bypass the bargaining agreement that'd already been made.

how would i be a scab if they are not striking?

the definition i understood of a scab was someone who kniowingly accepted work when a labor union or laborers have struck. gojet was not struck work. maybe i am reading it wrong but i thought it was a parallel company to tsa. yes the pay is complete crap but i did not see it as struck work.

if it is struck work then you are right i would be a scab. then again i am not ever going to cross a picket line to fly an airplane. there are other things out there i can do to put food on the table.

amorris311, that's just semantics. GoJet pilots aren't technically scabs since there was no strike, but many pilots view them as the same. Some even consider them worse. I've heard several pilots say that "at least a SCAB waits until you go on strike to steal your job." There might not be a strike, but it's job stealing none the less.

ok thanks for clearing it up. i want a do over with the earlier post that states i would put an app in. i will not put an app in even if it was the only job to be had. i do not like that kind of job stealing/whipsawing.

It seems to me that the situation w/r/t available crewmembers would have to change radically for uncle hulie to dissolve TSA. They (just like everyone else) currently cannot hire enough to cover the flying they've got. The solution does not seem like it would involve the dissolution of the "respectable" side of the operation in favor of the side that is synonymous with scab.

OTOH, upon further thought, is it possible that they've read the writing on the wall regarding the future of the 50 seater and will be deliberately shrinking the pilot group, counting on the lifers to want to keep their captain pay and go fly hojets?

Eeeeeeeenteresting.
