Took me long enough! Finally a Private Pilot!

Finally got it done! Joined this site in 2007. Started flying in 2013 but only gained about 45 hours between 2013 and 2017. On November 1st 2018 I started full time training and took time off work to get it done. Went to Sierra Charlie Aviation in Scottsdale and I STRONGLY recommend this school. The owner really cares about your progress and keeps the planes in tip top shape. My checkride was originally on Dec 18 but I choked on my mock ride so I pushed it back. Rescheduled for Jan 18th and completed the Oral but when it came time to fly, we only got 1 touch and go (soft field t/o, slip to land, soft field ldg) in a .5 because Scottsdale was so busy due to Barrett Jackson. The DPE wanted to discontinue to not waste my money and we finished up on Jan 22nd! Finally after all these years I am a Private Pilot! Took Ed and one of his FA’s out for my first Hundred dollar hamburger (and first flight as PIC with PAX) to Sedona on Monday.

I know I don’t post here as much as I did between 2007 and 2011 however I still have to say thank you to everyone. This site really did have a huge impact on my persistence to get it done. Meeting up in Vegas has been great too! Now I am on to instrument training. Anyone have any good recommendations for an online ground school for IFR? I’ll be transitioning from the six pack to a brand new 172 with a g1000.

This will also serve as my first “pics from the road” post!

Thanks!

Some will give you grief about the G-1000. They're better than six packs. BUT! (to all the G-1000 HATERS) Yes, it is good to have a firm foundation with six packs before transitioning to glass.

Yeah. I resisted the move to g1000 as much as I could but it makes more sense at my school. The instructors that are dedicated to doing instrument at night prefer the g1000 for instrument. Also there's a chick at the school starting her instrument at the same time as me and we are going to split the hood time so I will save money anyways. I figure I'll move back to the six pack for commercial but it would be good to spend 50-60 hours learning the glass.
