Being cheap is bad.Is being "cheap" a bad thing? I'm pretty sure no one ever went broke being cheap. I actually take it as a compliment. That being said, I don't use airport vans or stay in hotels often. I don't eat out much either since I'm cheap.
Good lord! 80 bucks for one meal? I hope we are talking about a family of 4.Being cheap is bad.
Being frugal is smart.
Cheap is tipping $3 on an $80 meal.
Frugal is ordering water instead of a $30 bottle of wine to go with your $80 meal.
Don't be cheap. It makes you look like an ass to most.
Where do you live and where do you eat? Valentines was almost a $110 for me and the wife, but it was very good prime rib with a bunch of other good stuff, and because I'm 1/4 scottish, 1/4 german, 1/4 swedish and 1/4 irish I can assure you I ate with a vengeance, complained about the inefficiency of the staff, drank a bit too much and then complained about how much I paid. Yep, I am the ugly American. The swedish part of me remains neutral but enjoys driving.Good lord! 80 bucks for one meal? I hope we are talking about a family of 4.

Lol, I live in the Midwest. Things are pretty cheap here. We occasionally eat at red lobster or outback and keep it under 50 bucks. I've been to Ruth's Chris once and I almost passes out when I got the check, but it was the best steak I've ever eaten.Where do you live and where do you eat? Did you tip? I you gave a fair tip for the service provided you don't need to justify it here.Lol, I live in the Midwest. Things are pretty cheap here. I did tip 10%. 10 bucks on a $100 meal. I can't justify giving a larger percentage to a waiter than I give to God(tithes).Did you tip? I you gave a fair tip for the service provided you don't need to justify it here.
Can't fault that, If I get really good service I go well beyond 15% because I feel the person doing the work deserves it.I did tip 10%. 10 bucks on a $100 meal. I can't justify giving a larger percentage to a waiter than I give to God(tithes).

When we start getting kickbacks for writing stuff up (job security for you). When are you guys going to start tipping your mechanics? If you are an ass the fact that you would offer a tip would confirm it.![]()
Nope, not Jewish.That's being cheap.
Just sayin'.
Serious question, are you Jewish? That culture tends to be cheap (frugal too, but also cheap).
But, I do agree that on larger bills customary tip amounts % wise aren't valid. Same with small bills, I tend to tip $6 on $20 bills at my normal spots.
Job security isn't an issue, I could make a post about poorly written descriptions of sqauwks and how I might be left scratching my head with a look on my face like a dog that you just offered spaghetti with meatballs but I won't. There are plenty of things that need to be addressed on an hourly or calender schedule that will keep me busy. I prefer fixing problems with the airplane, I suppose it's just my nature. When we start getting kickbacks for writing stuff up (job security for you).

I disagree, if a person wants to give money away it's a personal decision. Whether or not you agree with them giving that money away has zero effect on you so your opinion is moot. That's not cool. Christians going to lunch after church on sunday have a TERRIBLE reputation for skimping like this and turn people away from church as a result. How does it feel to know that you are turning people away from God via your actions?
Sarcasm.
