time off

This sounds like that CAL spoof about calling scheduling in India. The guys name was Frank or something. Somebody must have a link somewhere.

"Seven Hundred and Thirty Seven desk.... this is Frank." Good stuff.

I think it was "Floyd"...

My baby was born in May, 4 months after my start date at XJT. As soon as I hit the line I visited the Chief Pilots office and he told me that as a first year (no vacation, FMLA or official sick time) that the only recourse is 4 emergency drops for the year.

So my wife and I scheduled to induce labor around my scheduled days off. With the emergency drops and days off, I had 9 days at home.

It was unfortunate for my wife, since induction is harder on mom, that we had to schedule the birth, but I wasnt going to miss it--the life of an airline pilot.

Other than that, I havent had more than 7 days off in a row and I dont get my first year week of vacation until next October.
