Thoughts on ExpressJet???

I enjoyed my 6 years there. I was treated respectfully, flew with great crews, was provided safe airplanes, given the tools needed to do my job, and most importantly received excellent training. When I went to another airline and spoke to pilots who worked for other regionals, I was thankful for where I came from after hearing their stories and complaints. There are a couple regionals that I would say are equal to XJT but I can't think of any that are better....I'm speaking in terms of employment not upgrade times, etc. I really know little about what has happened since the ASA merger but I'd say ASA is a decent place to work as well.

I have a few friends there and commute on them frequently. They seem to be happy and from experience I can tell you their crews are all very accommodating and great people! XJT or SkyWest seem to be the places to be these days.

Is that a good thing?
Ask Mesa airlines,TSA, or Comair pilots. No one knows how a regional will fair in the future. What we do know is that it doesn't take long for a regional to take a dump.

What is worse is not knowing what is happening at all like at AE. About to get divested and boom, bankruptcy.

Here...I fixed your statement for ya.
I'll concede this to an extent. Majors at least aren't at the mercy of a bigger and better carrier to support them. Doing outsourced work can make one's career change quite rapidly as the regional industry can be very volatile in nature.

It is a regional. What it looks like now is not what it will look like in 5 years.

Today's 10 month upgrade turns into a 10 year upgrade in a matter of months. Don't chase an upgrade. It doesn't sound like you are though. Basically, go somewhere that has a good QOL, decent contract, bases you wouldn't mind living at, and a place that's current plan calls for a lot of hiring so you can get some fodder. That's probably the best way to look at it.

While you're wasting time worrying about whether to apply, I'm wasting time building seniority.

In most cases, one of these activities is superior to the other.

I worked there for 10 months. Some of the greatest people I've had the pleasure of flying with. I did however meet some of the biggest DB's in my life there. The money sucked(s). But thats an industry wide problem that really is the fault of the pilot community at large. I left aviation after Express. My opinion, ExpressJet will be in the spot Eagle is in now in a matter of time.

Does anyone know if expressjet changed there interview, all of the gouges say it is a 2 day interview but when they got me a ticket for the interview I'm only interviewing for 1 day???

They were talking about changing the interview from 2 days to 1 just a short time ago. Unfortunately though, they were going to drop the day at ASA A-tech and just do the Delta portion at Delta HQ.

I was wondering what my fellow jetcareerers think of ExpressJet? Is it a good place to work? QOL? Exe...

Great company to work for. Can't get much better for a "super regional". Plus there are people that have left for JetBlue, Emirates, Southwest, and Fedex recently.

In the email I was sent for the interview there is nothing about a sim, do you think they took that away too? And I'm sure I'm just doing the delta portion...

That's what the rumor was, but I would treat it as if it were like the gouges state as far as content. Be sure to write a gouge when you complete it. Goodluck.
