The TSA's latest brilliant idea

My wife has had water in her carry-on bags three times within a year and TSA never recognized that they were there. This happening in ATL & BNA. Funny.

The TSA are hardworking professionals with no margin for error. Which is why so many passengers traveling to YYJ, YVR, YYC, or YEG from SFO make it through with expired passports, or sometimes, none at all.

Let's not forget about how many ex-cons and people with outstanding warrants actually get hired by the TSA, too. FYI, at a lot of airports (normally the larger ones), the person checking IDs before you get to the screening check point is NOT a TSA employee.

I'm all for a federal agency that takes care of transportation security, but it needs to be done in a smart, well thought out manner. So far, the TSA has not only be a hodge-podge organization at best, but most of its policies are knee jerk reactions rather than something implemented before hand. There also needs to be a consist screening process rather than what we have now. The whole point of federalizing the security screening was to have it uniform across all airports. Then the TSA gets the authority to change things. So, we have airports where you can leave your shoes on or take them off. We've got airports that have specific lanes for wheelchairs and some where people in wheelchairs still have to go through the standard line. As a crew member, if I haven't been through a screening check point before, I'm scoping the crew lane. Some have them, some don't. The only difference b/w what we have now and what we had pre-9/11 is it's paid through tax dollars and the employees get government benefits. Operationally, it's no better than before. Until they get their act together and do what the original mission was, I consider the TSA a miserable failure.

When my mom was a TZ flight attendant she had a boxcutter in her wallet on a MDW-LGA-MDW-DFW-MDW trip, no one stopped her, she found out, and threw it out..
Apparently she had it in there cause we were getting ready to move and were packing..
YAY for the TSA!:sarcasm:

Happens all the time. Friend of mine worked PT at Disney as a stock clerk in a merch shop. Went straight to work at SWA on the ramp from Disney, walked through security, and got on the shuttle to terminal A with me. Puts his hand in his pocket and....SURPRISE. Still had the box cutter from working the stock clerk job. He just forgot to leave it in his car.

And if that happens, whatever you do, DO NOT tell the TSA that you brought it through. Causes way too many problems.

They started doing that in MEM about a week ago, then when I got my badge yesterday the lovely people over at MSCAA forgot to include the Escort part of the ID badge. But at least I don't need it until June now though. Just means that I may be moving from MEM to one of the other ones around town...if it gets that bad.

Who pays for these badges?

The individual pilots? or the local government?
My company who pays the FBO, and then we turn around and charge the customer who then charges you in some way shape or form. So in actuality the average consumer pays for all the additional charges.

How is the actual distribution plan supposed to work?

It won't.

I have an idea.

We could make each pilot have a form of photo ID to prove that they are who they say they are. They could also have a card that identifies them as a pilot, proving that they have a reason to be where they are.

Oh wait.

I think this one is already on the books.

So while were on the topic of incompetence in government, i.e. the Tub Stackers of America, than boy do I have a story for yall. So about a month ago I'm non-revving(buddy pass) from IAH to DCA to visit my sister, I walk through security at IAH without incident and go on to DCA. Well 4 days later I'm on my way back home to IAH and lets just say that security did not go nearly as easy!
So after having waited in line for 20 min it was finally my turn to dance with the boys in blue. Knowing that I was wearing the exact same clothes, jacket and carrying the same luggage I gave little thought to setting my things on the X-Ray machine and walking through the medal detector. Well about 30 seconds after I walk through Medal detector my stuff still hasn't come out, pretty soon a minute goes by and still nothing! Next thing I know the blob behind the machine starts yelling for a supervisor; the guy might of well said "hay everyone come over and look at the shinny object I found" because I there must have been every tub stacker in 20 mile radius huddled around that monitor pointing first at the screen and then at me. You can image my embarrassment! Anyways the next thing I know some little piss ant tub stacker has all of my stuff and is telling me to come with him. At this point I am totally confused, all the while thinking "I know my bags have been with me the whole time and I know that everything I have with me now has gone through security at IAH". Next thing I know I'm in some little room and piss ant starts going through my leather bomber jacket like a crazy man, as he begins to inspect the small pockets that hold 2 pen's something clicks in my head and the following just bursts out of my mouth. "THERE IS A BULLET IN THERE".
2 weeks prior to that I had gone deer hunting with a friend and left a Win. 270 round in that pocket, but I might have well told that to a mute because tub stacker was 100% preoccupied with finding the gun that went with the bullet or as he called it "The Projectile". I had tried to explain to him that a 270 was a VERRY large rifle which I obviously did not have with me. Yeah it didn’t matter! Anyways, he finishes ripping apart my suitcase and having not found anything I'm sure he was disappointed. But as you will soon find out the contents of my brief case more than make up for his temporary disappoint.
For that you will have to wait for part 2 as I have some work that I need to finish before I leave for the day.

TSA approved badges are now required here at KIWA just because allegiant flies in a few times a day. had to pay an addition $30 on top of the $30 I had to pay in August for my original airport badge. Complete BS if you ask me.:banghead:

Or the guy with a plane on his own private strip who decides to fly into LAX, or whatever. That's legal too.

Damn straight! Its fun too! lol
