There are alot of Mormons on this board. Not everyone is always going to agree with anyone personal lives or religion. But your definately not alone in your worshipping practices so take comfort in that.
All are welcome to these boards. It could be worse I mean you could be a Jehovah Witness.

yup, John and I for serious moving to Utah. Me end of Oct, John mid Dec. We're going out there because I hate my job and want to be a ski instructor. SLC as opposed to Colorado because the Salt Lake is a lot closer to the ski resorts there than Denver is to the resorts in CO which makes it easier on both of us (less driving). Right now it looks like we'll be heading out there to find an apartment Aug 12-14 so we'll have to meet up with all these SLC peeps

I love how everyone bases Utah because of the mormons.There are tons of "free thinkers" here then you would imagine. Also there are probably more mormons in Las Vegas then SLC. I hate here personally but not because of the mormons,. Shoveling your driveway sucks and the summers are hot.Lots of people love it but the economy is in the tank. I make $12 bucks an hours thats more then 70% of the people here.
 
You know whats funny is I might be moving to Phoenix.I'm close to finish my AS and have family that live in the hood.Rent would be cheap and I love warm weather.

Anyone know if all of SkyWest hiring as of late is confined to the Brazilia? All of the new hires on this board all seemed to get on the Brazilia and not the CRJ.

Not at all, Matt. In fact, we're running more jet classes than Brasilia. It's just that the few guys on here didn't have turbine time before getting to SkyWest, and so were relegated to the more complex, harder to fly, and more fun Brasilia!

And Chuck, a week off was great, except that I'm not getting paid for it and haven't collected a check in five weeks!

  • For the most part, mormons are very nice people. SOME Utah mormons get a little holier than thou and conveniently forget the Golden Rule when it suits their purposes, particularly as it pertains to legislative affairs and codification of certain values into the the state's statutes. Mormons from other states don't seem to share this trait. Collectively, Utah mormons annoy me as they have a tendency to be some of the most intolerant people on the planet. They're very nice when they think you're one of "them" or that they have a shot at converting you, but if you buy a house in a heavily mormon neighborhood and tell the missionaries/visiting teachers that you're simply not interested, prepare to be ostracized in totality by your neighbors. They just don't like to interact with us heathens/nonbelievers.
  • JC'er CAVOK was hired into the CRJ, he just started class last week. I guess turbine time is the big determinant. I'd be interested to know where their cutoff for the AMOUNT of turbine experience is necessary to be hired into the jet vice the bro. A buddy of mine had the bare hiring mins, but 80 of his 100 ME was in a King Air and that was enough to put him into the jet it would seem.

Great to hear that! For my own edification is that an MD90 ONLY category, or do they mix it with MD88 legs like we did at DFW?

Personally I tried to fly as much on the MD90 just to avoid flying to Crackertown, USA!

FWIW...just got back from Indy and the USGP, or what there was of it! F1, the FIA, Michelin, and Bernie Eccelstone all screwed up big time!

Closest thing I ever found to Dick's Last Resort in Chicago or the ever poplular Bijou next to the LeBarron in SJC! (where I first took Mz B...and she still married me!"
 
Red Iguana is a little hole in the wall type, familly run, Mexican restaurant. Great stuff if you like real Mexican food.

Right now, from what I can tell, the aircraft you get assigned to at SkyWest seems to be based on company needs first, then background. For example two close friends of mine were recently hired. One with over 3000 hours, plenty of multi and even a few hours of jet time. He got the Brasillia. The other had around 1400 hours and around 150 hours of multi. He got the jet. SkyWestChris could probably answer this better than me, but it seems that the aircraft you get depends on what class slots are available and company needs at the time.

Eventually most everyone wants to be in the jet,myself included, yet I am glad for the turboprop time. I'll be spending the rest of my professional life in a jet. A year or two in a turbo prop, flying into smaller airports is good for you. Personally I get a kick out of it!

One nice perk of the Brasillia during the first year is that once you have a line your minimum pay guarantee per month is 80 hours, where on the RJ it is 75 hours. 1st year pay is equal in both aircraft.

That's the Dead Goat Saloon you're thinking of, it's now called the Crazy Goat and is a titty bar from what I understand, haven't been in there personally in a very long time. Maybe on one of Douglas' overnights....
