I really wish we had one of those or an L1011 on a stick in the parking lot instead of the 747. We had a way longer history with those two jets than our foray into 747's.

I don’t think tail strikes really are much of a player. There’s Boeing :gasp: products that have much closer margins for striking the tail.Squirrel-away fuel tanks in every empty space the engineers could create on a stretched DC-10. Oops! Now we need a computer to fly the small horizontal stab and be the devil's hands when tail strikes happen.
