How does the AF train for this machine. It would seem some T-6 time would come in handy. I can't imagine the U2 being your initial TW trainer.

They train in the U-2.

It's relatively easy to learn how to land a tailwheel airplane...it is much more difficult to learn to land the U-2. No sense in spending time/money/effort to learn a 3rd aircraft when what you're really trying to learn is that specific aircraft.

The impression I got from reading the Lane Wallace article is that the U2 is a bloody difficult airplane to fly.
