We're basically a networking and informational website.

Yes, we ALL spend an inordinate amount of time here because, of course, we have common interests and we're all looking to get ahead or help others get ahead.

I figure it's like the "take a penny/leave a penny". If our content happens to help you out or enlighten you in some way, add to the content. It's pretty simple. Without other people adding to the "content kitty" before you, there would have been nothing for you to read.

So when I hear about people that are angry about the amount of time spent on professional online forums, we have to recognize that a lot of us are actively benefitting from these "dastardly" things and sometimes you might have to elucidate that to others from time to time.

It's a free resource and we're a sum of our whole and the only price for admission is throwing a couple posts up, offering to help just as eagerly as you were when you took it and avoid the "I got mine, pull up the rope".

Yup, I'm on a rant. It's disingenuous when people benefit from a free, robust, friendly resource on one hand, but denigrate it on the other.

One of those "OMG, I hate it when my pilot-husband does..." groups on social media is ablaze this afternoon about online forums and it was a kick in the teeth.

I friggin love this group of people...even the people who I don't always agree with.

Even if I had nothing to gain career wise, I would keep coming back here. It's impossible to find a group of people anywhere near as awesome...offline or online.

Well I'm a bit of a slacker for the Vegas JC M&G, because my rotations keep putting me overseas on October, but I'll get there someday...I'd like to meet a few people and punch a few people in the junk, too. But overall there are 3 websites I visit: gmail, jetcareers and "adult educational material".

That's it. A whole big internet and 3 saved websites.

Overall all I mean to say is this community has been very good to me and I hope I have contributed something in return.

I stopped reading at Penny.


My wife's name as supposed to be Penny instead the went with Jenny.

Not sure if that makes me Leonard or Raj???
