The best regional airline to work for

Actually, there's not enough information to answer the question.

What are the top five most important things to you in terms of bases, pay, quality of life, work rules and advancement?

When referring to a Regional airline, you cannot put Pay and Quality life in the same sentence…

You're not going to find top shelf pay at a regional, it's simply not going to happen. But I'm willing to bet that the work rules at ExpressJet, Air Wisky, Horizon and possibly Republic are better than the work rules at Northwest, Continental and narrow body United right now.

You should hear some of the crap that the CAL guys put up with.

Your contract was better than the 737 at CAL BEFORE concessions. Now? fhugettaboutit.

Oh yeah, man. This guy is, like, right on. Everyone at EVERY regional totally hates life, pay and their work rules. just spend your time praying you can get on at an awesome major like NWA or United. Or, if pay and scheduling are really important to you, Continental.

:D:D
Can you refuse to fly if you answer a call from scheduling on a day off?

;)

Common guy...who ever picks up their phone on their day off from scheduling other than first year FOs chomping at the bit to fly!?

Houston area code? I don't know you...and I don't wanna know you is my saying!

Yeah man it's a bunch of 737 reserves in my crashpad. Those poor guys are gettin' beat up! I think they said they could move 6 of their days off!?

ouch. 737 FO + reserve = severe pain. Sad thing is its not much better once you get a line. 78 hours of block time and 12 days off, and ALL of your commutes are the day before or the morning after your trip. There is a reason that 737 CA upgrade in EWR is 2.5 years. IT SUCKS.

Your "pay per day away from home" is actually more as a 777 FO on reserve than a 737 CA on reserve, because if you don't get used (which is a lot) you can go home for your last 2 days. (The shortest trip is 3)

The 737 guys get used HARD. And people wonder why dad waited until he could be a lineholder 756 CA before upgrading.

Although you'll probably disagree, I think you can add skywest to the list of companies that have pretty good work rules as well. (yes, I know the company can take them away at any time, but I and a lot of other folks would leave if they did.)

You can definitely add SKW to that list...everyone from here in NorCal works for SKW and I haven't met one person who isn't happy being there. Sure, they could def. increase the first year pay, but 2nd year sort of makes up for it. You guys have some other great perks as well...but you already know that.

Naw, wouldn't disagree, I just don't know anything about your work rules! I'm much more familiar with the other companies I mentioned, which is why I listed them.

I actually wouldn't doubt you have bitchin' work rules, I just think that your pay rate is criminal. It's not your fault, it's not like you negotiated for it. My problem is with your management.
