The average Skywest new hire

Wow I can't beleive the latest round of upgrades went so junior. Some guy has been with Skywest for only 6 months and is going to the left seat of the Bro! That's pretty dang fast.

Wha?! Maybe I should start paying attention. That's more junior than me!

Besides the "awards" section is there another way to check? I do see a pilot from the class behind me was awarded. That would put him at the one year mark. Hmmmm maybe my Capt bid should have included FAT.

I checked and the highest number was 215--. That's still above me, so I've calmed down! We're desperate for Bro captains in FAT. My roommate is getting anally raped every month by scheduling (he's on reserve).

At this rate I will never upgrade. I still only have 1200TT. Other than that one month I had that relief line in FAT where I logged about 90hrs, I haven't been flying. In fact, my YTD hours are like 179.00.

Hey, you chose to go back to SLC, buddy. You can always move where you'll fly and break guarantee every month.

yeah, they also said they weren't going to have any upgrade classes for a while. All of a sudden they have 2 classes for the bro and 2 for the RJ with 30 in each class. Who knows. Lets hope for the best.

I'm sure he'll be thinking real hard about that while riding up the ski lift at The Canyons during his reserve periods. :D

Chuck, you do realize you're going to have to perform an assessment of which chairs/runs you can take and still make it to the airport on time, assuming the call from crew support comes just after boarding the lift. :p

I know and the bad thing is that I think I can only ski the Super Condor Express while I am there. The rest of the mountain is cut off and I could never make 90 min. That is one reason I took a part time job at Colesport. I can ski DV and PC for free now!

JD, I will take my current situation over FAT, sorry. ;)

Yup 2500TT to be a Captain at SKYW. I don't think they are changing that.

Hopefully for us junior folks and SkyWest pool folks, the first quarter freeze on new-hire classes doesn't last. My seniority has moved up 40+ since being hired (9/29/05) and with the upgrade classes going I think we'll need more folks. Although reserves are a little plush right now, i'm not sure how long that can last.

Also when I was in the DEN crew lounge the other day, some of the higher-ups were in town and they were talking about further UAL expansion for DEN & ORD! So that could mean some more good news for us. (those of us who want DEN or ORD atleast). And I certainly want to be back to DEN stat!

I am leaving for upgarde BRO FAT for April class.
I will be missing DEN.

I got hired with 1550 and 1007 multi-turbine. Two letters of recommendation.
The only way I think I got noticed was because I went to a "cattle call" they
were hosting in SLC back then.

Good luck to all you new hires, and welcome aboard.

This just in...

Four interview dates in March and six in April. I don't know who's getting called or what kind of flight time they have. Historically it's been all over the board from the 1000 hour wonders (Ophir, mrIVC) to the more experienced 2000-3000 hour (I got hired with 2200 total, 1100 turbine).

A newhire class starts on the 13th. Brasilia, I think...

How did you yo have 1000 of your 1500tt as multi-turbine? thats awesome. Was it PIC?

Sweet, movement. We need more of it. More below me and more to move in front. Crikes! I got a line this month but I am still 47 out of 58 and there are only 32 lines.

Don't say it Jonathan!

My bud just emailed me. He's in that class, for the -120. He was a CFI, was in training at Mesa on the Dash, and bailed before the sim to go to skywest. If more people did that maybe Mesa would have to rethink its practices :). From my understanding he interviewed back towards the end of 2005.

You can have my line, Chuck. I'm trying to get Denver or Chicago (jet). Gotta get the hell out of Fresno. It's draining the life out of me.

Mesa is already having (and has been for some time) trouble filling ground schools and they haven't even blinked ...
