That Could Have Been Bad

Were you implying landing over someone on a runway? I would much rather land offset to the side of the runway or on a taxiway if clear, because landing over someone gives the increased risk of landing on top of them and killing the occupants, or if they are initiating their takeoff roll while you are coming down and don't see you, not only are you landing on one engine but being smashed into from behind. I could only see that being good if you received radio confirmation from the aircraft or the tower stating he wouldn't move, and then I'd give more than enough room not to hit him (say the 1000' markers or so)

That is a good point, but again it depends. If the airplane is back taxiing or just crossing an intersection it would be best to land past them.

Alex.

Yikes, good job helping him out there.

Saw a 172 do a soft field takeoff with no flaps on a short runway the other day. He cleared the fence by only a few feet, never put the flaps down even when someone got on the radio and pointed it out. Thought he was going to hit something.

that is never a pleasent sight

I read someone that wrote somewhere else in this thread that it depends.

Hmmmmm......

The circular arguments in this thread are entertaining.

Post people CFIT accidently, not intentionally.

How do you accidentally CFIT?? On the other hand, how does one intentionally CFIT? What the heck are you talking about?! It's like an old WW2 bomber pilot/mentor once told me, "I love the nimrods who will argue that it was ATC's fault for them flying into a frickn mountain, or the post crash BS you'll hear oh he was such a great pilot, so safety concientious." Accidentally CFIT lol good one, too bad you don't have the CFIT pilots' to argue to the NTSB that it wasn't their, "inability to..."
