Thanks Vets

Even though "thank you" doesn't really say enough in my opinion...thanks to all who have served, and are serving.

Happy Veteran's Day!

I second that. Even though I don't agree with the leadership that put our troops where they are today or in many past conflicts, that is not their choice and to give up your freedom to serve your fellow public is always commendable.

In Canada, our Royal Mint created a new 25 cent coin, with a poppy on the back of it (instead of the carriboo). The coin also incorporates colour on it (Canada is the first country to ever make such a coin, and I think the occasion is perfect... what a nice way to Remember and say Thanks!)

Here's a pic of it: http://www.rcmint.ca/poppy/home.asp.

Yep, a BIG Thank You to all who have served and to those that continue to do so. Thanks for what you do.

I'm officially now a Veteran of Foreign Wars, although the true thanks belongs to the guys up "front". While we all contibute some are alot closer makeing the enemy "contribute" to their cause if you know what I mean. God speed to them.

EatSleepFly,

Just your simple "Thank You" means so much to us Vets and those who are serving at this time.

That simple "Thank You" makes up for all the days without seeing our family, not taking a shower, not sleeping, not eating, low morale, having your buddy with you one day and dead the next (Everything sinks in the next day) Having to tell your buddies wife that he will always live in your heart.

That simple "Thank You" means the world. Believe me...

A big salute to all of you. Thank you all.

And for those of you who are over in the desert, get back safe.

My fellow shipmates it was a honor to serve with you; those still working hard on the flight decks look out for your buddy and return home safely.

VF-154 anywhere and...Anytime, Baby!

I have always thought this quote from "Saving Private Ryan" put it best -

Gen. George C. Marshall : I have here a very old letter, written to a Mrs. Bixby in Boston. "Dear Madam: I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant-General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Yours very sincerely and respectfully, Abraham Lincoln."

Sacrificing your own lives, careers, and family time so that others may live and pursue their dreams in freedom is truly commendable.

I wished a happy Veteran's Day to a co-worker today and he later pulled me aside and told me how much he appreciated that. So like eeg said, that simple thank you can make a difference.

Thank you to all who have served, past or present. I believe your service and sacrifice, no matter what war or conflict, is something that should never be forgotten. Every one of you has made a difference and has protected our way of life, and for that we will be forever grateful.

No doubt, THANKS!

I spent the afternoon down at the D-Day museum in New Orleans talking to WW2 vets (who are dying at the rate of almost 1000/day or 1000/month, I dunno but I'll ask the CPT who gave me the statistic in the morning) and from the Taylor family, thanks for your sacrifices.

It's a much appreciated luxury to look at the sacrifices that our men and women made in foreign nations so we didn't have to endure an occupying army in the United States.

Thank you,

Thank you,

Thank you.

Doug, I sooo want to check that museum out...is it as cool as I think it is?

It's my second time going and I'm heavily considering going again next week so I can talk to more vets that were there during D-Day.

It's literally heartstopping to listen to the first hand accounts of D-Day from proud soldiers that may not be here tomorrow.

*gulp*
