Looks like it was fun, too bad I had to work. How big is TOL? Really surprises me that they have barely any airline service.

The airport is basically just 1 runway with a smaller crossing runway and serviced by about 3-4 airlines. We have DCI which flies DC-8s out every morning and then Capitol Cargo, which flies 727s.

Ya, I looked at my options of getting there, and there were just 2 Eagle flights from ORD that looked full everyday, and a few flights from ATL and DTW that were also pretty packed, not a lot of options.

ORD and DTW are the only daily pax ops out of here. We also have PIE and SFB with Allegiant and then PGD with DirectAir.

TOL is one of the airports that was hit hardest because of the recession. We have lost over 50% of our daily flights in the past 2.5 years. When I first started, we had ORD, DTW, CLE, ATL, CVG, PIE, and SFB. DFW, LAS, PIT and MDW were running not too long prior to that. It's really a shame what TOL has become.

If we didn't have the guard and BAX here, the airport would have a REALLY hard time justifying a tower and TRACON.

That's a sweet little airport. Lots of birds, who seemed to be able to make a nest in an airplane in less than 24 hours, and lay an egg. Don't ask how I know.
