Many, but not all airlines went bankrupt as a direct result 9/11. Ones with unsustainable labor contracts did or more realistically they used 9/11 as an excuse for bankruptcy to abrogate labor contracts that should have never been approved in the first place. If all airlines went bankrupt after 9/11 I feel your point would be valid.

In 2016, Delta made more money in Q1, the weakest quarter for airlines, than it did in all of 2012.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that the airlines could use BK as a means to abrogate labor contracts anymore. I *think* that, that ship has sailed.

I don't get your point. Are you implying that these profits will continue indefinitely? UAL had just finished it's most profitable decade in it's history. As I am sure you are aware, this industry is extremely cyclical and when times indeed do get tough again the highest paid employee group will be asked yet again to take the biggest cut and by the way, a lot of that Q1 profit came off the backs of Delta's "regional" partners.

Perhaps not anymore but in 2003 it was used to great effect.

Look guys, no malice intended, I hope you get the contract you feel you deserve. Just don't be surprised when things go sideways.
