Terrible line in March. FAR 117 to blame?

Affirm! I was just getting my 29 hour LMT routine down too...
Meh. I just flew one of our CLD high-speeds (displaced, reassigned). I wouldn't like doing them back to back, but every once in a while I'd do them. Still think they're problematic (reserve coverage is near impossible).

PSP Bro - my March is 87+ credit with 11 days off. I am getting fewer days off for the same credit since 117. The big difference in March is I don't have any 2 hour sits in LA.

I only flew one month under 117 as a line holder, and I wound up with 90 hours of block with 15 days off. Thanks to the snowstorm and the soft time associated with that, I was up around 110 hours of credit, though.

117 is going to be as bad or good as what your scheduling rules/contract are. Here, we're losing efficiency because of buffers being built in to the schedules to keep people from timing out when the weekly winter storms hit JFK and BOS. They have apparently found a way that reserves will be able to bid 6 on/1 off again (which they could legally under 117 anyway, but management wanted to get a couple of months of ops under their belt first I guess), so that'll be good for guys that want bigger blocks of days off elsewhere in the month. They're starting to tweak the min scheduled rest buffers to being less in bases and longer at outstations, which makes sense. If you time out in a base, there are better odds there will be a reserve to cover it. Take away the block/duty/rest buffers, and almost all of my trips pre-117 would have been legal under 117. Add in these airline induced buffers, and a lot of them weren't gonna get built by PBS.

I was awarded 98:52 hours block in March. I did not even bid max credit. The most I've ever had (even bidding max credit) is 92 hours. We are way short staffed in March.
I simply wanted to see if this was common among my regional brethren for March (I'm at SKW). If it is, why at your airline? Thanks in advance.
Personally i wouldn't call that bad. Then again my perspective is based on first year pay and only having min days off. If I have to work a lot I want to get paid a lot. 15 hour 4 days need to die.

Apparently you're not the only one. I have 95 block, and 101 credit. I waived the default minimum credit. smh...

I'm of the opinion that we should be doing our own, parallel, pairing construction, and if we can prove we can cover the flying legally with a better QOL, they should use our pairings.

(Not happening anytime soon. Additionally, nobody asked me, and nobody will be asking me.)

Waive default min credit means "If possible with line constraints, I am okay with a solution under 58:36."

Required minimum line value doesn't care, yo.

I put that in so I can get the days off I wanted. I'm 62 in IAH and didn't get any of the days I wanted and that high value of credit. From what I'm hearing, no one is happy with theirs. Strange.

"The point of PBS is to cover the flying." ;)

SLC Bro FO...I love my March schedule. 89 credit with 12 days off. Not much, but I did manage to get all weekends off, for the first time ever. 117 had very little impact to our schedules. Losing SUN to the RJ did. Now that we're picking up VEL, CNY, and PUB, our lines are looking good again.
