...once we hit 180 it was speaker time.
I can't mess up my hair! (I'm bald lol) it is much more comfortable for me and the majority I've flown with.Ugh, why?
Ugh, why?
Have fun talking to yourself haha.Agreed. I hate it when people want to go "topless."
"Have at it buddy. I'm keeping my ears on."

Sorry if it wasnt clear but i was in agreement. The only way i can figure out what the foreign controllers are saying is with a headset on and anr. So mine is on at the minimum until cpdlc. At my shop 99% of the time the headsets stay on. If someone wants to take it off, more power to them, but I have a hard time hearing the radio without the headset in the E190.

Do you have tin cans for hand mikes? That's what it sounds likePart of it depends on airline cultures. I worked for Alaska and literally everyone wore headsets the whole flight. So at that point I personally don't like the 850 because it's not very comfortable for a long flight. Now I'm at United and I think you would be considered weird if you kept the headset on in cruise on a longer flight. I've never seen anyone do it. Don't know about the 737 but you don't need a headset in the 757/767. In that case the 850 is perfect. Every airline and airplane is different.

That must be it. I thought maybe they went cheap with the handmikes. Most likely you're hearing guys on headsets. United provides these "minitel" headsets. They sound terrible.
