Teb today

Jersey City is one subway stop or ferry from the city...and no corporate flight crews in sight.
I never tried that area, Secaucus was convenient enough to the airport and city, and although not adventurous with its dining options it had reasonable options for shorter overnights.

The Woodland Hills Marriott is where everyone likes to congregate now.

Spent way too much of my life there. Was Diamond and Platinum for a few years. Mostly because of that property and the Renaissance in Rutherford, NJ.

If I never see it again it will be too much.

I didn’t know Marriott had a “Titanium” status until I received the email. Sad that I ”achieved” it…….

I've been floating ambassador status from my charter days. The only reason I've been able to keep it is because I got a freebie COVID year and I stay at marriotts almost exclusively.

But there is a super secret status that is above ambassador. It's really unclear how to obtain it outside of maybe kissing a hotel manager's behind.

It has a real Starbucks, is that why?

"Real" starbucks. I've abandoned that location because there are just too many flight crews there and have found a secret hotel in North Hollywood that is much better. I do miss &Waffles near the Woodland Hills Marriott though. It is a pretty legit breakfast place!

Until last year I spent a lot of nights in that Marriott, my client was in the same complex. Gary Senise moved his operation to TN so I no longer go there. I never discovered &Waffles.

That Starbucks.
Gym & M lounge.
Restaurant/ bar in hotel.
Self service laundry in hotel.
Short walk to other restaurants.
Just expensive enough to filter out the stoner crowd.
Quiet area aside from the occasional event in park behind hotel.

There are actually a few decent restaurants over in the area that are away from the mall complex (the mall complex is mostly restaurant chains). HQ Gastropub is has great food! It wouldn't be a bad idea to venture down Ventura blvd either North or South.

It turns out that my life has only improved after "losing" all of my hotel-God statuses. Don't particularly miss the airlines, either.

Yep. In a bad month, I spend 5 or 6 nights a month in a hotel. Most months it's only 2 or 3. It is amazing how little I miss all the traveling.

I'm part 91. So I'm usually only flying 250hrs a year. It is definitely a real struggle to try and maintain status. But honestly there is no real reason to be thirsty for it. I don't really eat the free breakfast or frequent the lounges anymore. All my meals are expensed and I'm not tied to trying to stay under certain per diem amount.

I'm 91 also and have 188 hours in a plane I've been flying full time for over a year and half. Granted our flying is still a down a bit because of Covid, but our company doesn't do a lot of over night trips. I never enjoyed long day trips until this job. It's amazing how quickly perspective changes once you spend more and more time in your own bed every night.

Well Ambassador KLB, then I’m sad for the both of us.

I'm going to miss hotel points, I don't think I've paid for a hotel in 10 years. But that is a small price to pay for the other benefits.
