Teardrop Procedure as a Course Reversal

Hello all, I'm working on my CFII i want to load an approach in the sim that uses a teardrop procedure as a course reversal, I've googled it and have found many outside of the U.S. My sim only has US plates. does anyone know of an airport that I can use

You can use any type of course reversal you deem appropriate, including a teardrop, unless the approach specifies otherwise (which I haven't found to be very common).

Stay on the depicted side and within the protected area, and you can get turned around any way you'd like.

Just wanted to make that point.

As far as an approach with a depicted teardrop, I vaguely remember an approach into VNY with one. Also, some of the new RNAV RNP approaches utilize teardrop maneuvers.

Um... I think he is asking about an approach that does "specify otherwise" - namely an IAP that "uses a teardrop procedure as a course reversal."

@ncball, since you are working on your CFII, check out AIM 5-4-9, particularly the parts about the teardrop PT which includes "When a teardrop procedure turn is depicted and a course reversal is required, this type turn must be executed."

Also Chapter 5 of the Instrument Procedures Handbook which, among other things, tells us "When a teardrop is depicted and a course reversal is required, pilots also must fly the procedural track as published.."

I think he was just asking for an approach that has a teardrop course reversal published. I can't find any in the US.

Yup the upper right corner of the plan view on government plate for the HI-ILS or LOC RWY 18 into LNK clearly depicts the teardrop course reversal to inbound on the 167 radial. I am going to file that one away for use with students.
Good catch Midlife!

Thanks. It comes up from time to time and it can be hard to even understand what a teardrop PT is without some visual aid. Another one that's pretty good for a sample is the KPMD VOR/DME 25

I wish KPMD wasn't a Airforce plant. I would totally wear that approach out with students.
I wonder if I can finaggle permission to shoot that approach though. hmmmm. Can always phone and ask I suppose. All they can say is no, right? hehe
