Um... I think he is asking about an approach that does "specify otherwise" - namely an IAP that "uses a teardrop procedure as a course reversal."You can use any type of course reversal you deem appropriate, including a teardrop, unless the approach specifies otherwise (which I haven't found to be very common)..

@ncball, since you are working on your CFII, check out AIM 5-4-9, particularly the parts about the teardrop PT which includes "When a teardrop procedure turn is depicted and a course reversal is required, this type turn must be executed."
Also Chapter 5 of the Instrument Procedures Handbook which, among other things, tells us "When a teardrop is depicted and a course reversal is required, pilots also must fly the procedural track as published.."
Not talking about one like this?I think he was just asking for an approach that has a teardrop course reversal published. I can't find any in the US.
the KLNK works perfect, thanks for the help finding itNot talking about one like this?
KLNK ILS OR LOC 18
Thanks. It comes up from time to time and it can be hard to even understand what a teardrop PT is without some visual aid. Another one that's pretty good for a sample is the KPMD VOR/DME 25Yup the upper right corner of the plan view on government plate for the HI-ILS or LOC RWY 18 into LNK clearly depicts the teardrop course reversal to inbound on the 167 radial. I am going to file that one away for use with students.
Good catch Midlife!
