i don't know if it's an IBT thing or just a burn out pilot group thing. I very much got the impression that "stick it to the man" was the order of the day when Craig was running things. Now, I don't really feel like things have changed. We have a very beaten down pilot group that feels they are owed, which they are. The problem is what they feel they are owed I am scared is not even remotely in the realm of reasonable for the type of business we are in. Full back pay? Huge signing bonus? Industry leading in every capacity? Come on.

That's a pipe dream...and the opinion I get from a lot of guys (including the NC reps) is that we get it all or we burn the house down. That doesn't leave a lot of room for compromise.
 
The contract they're still on was signed in 2003! I was still there, young, had hair on the crown of my head, and so on.

When I left in 07, the group had enough of the Rev's labor relations while they were getting paid. The company went from a smallish (50 planes) to large (227) from October of 03 to September of 07.

They're burnt out and their backs are tired from carrying the operation.

It's not a dereliction of duty @ATN_Pilot (you still need a hug).

Wasting money is not a good thing. Over the next year just about every 1224 airline is going to be in section 6. My guess is the big boys in 1224 are not happy about seeing money wasted on a Hail Mary at best.

And the 2000 or so pilots at 357, were less than enthusiastic when national stepped and forced a TA to the group.

Your negotiators did not understand the IBT national bylaws and rules. You can't really blame 357 or 1224 for that. Now don't get me wrong RAH guys have been screwed by everyone, union, company and fellow pilots.

I think this sums it up. I can't help but feel like representing both mainline and minor league players, ALPA two separate spheres of interest. What's good for one may not really be what's good for the other. I could be wrong, however.

ALPA national does not get involved in local issues, so there is no conflict of interest. But it is a broken system of regional feed, so not a lot can be done to help the FFD guys. The best steps at this point are scope choke and career progression. And ALPA is doing quite well at both.

Ah, I gotcha. I agree, the FFD system is pretty broken.
