She may have a point. AA and Eagle (not sure if either still do it) definitely used to require clothing removal during their interview. If they actually had something against folks with *any* tattoos, they certainly would have had the opportunity to weed them out during the interview process.
During both AA & Eagle F/A interviews I was required to display my arms to the extent that a short sleeve uniform shirt would show. If a candidate is wearing pants they made the candidate show their ankles/lower legs. During the medical we were specifically asked about tattoos and it was made very clear the contingent job offer would be rescinded if we were lying about any tattoos, and we would be released from training for any visible tattoos also.
It was pretty clear: Visible tattoo = no job. If the tattoo was where it wouldn't be seen in a uniform (lower back, shoulder, etc) it was a non-issue, but no *visible* tattoos.
