System awards at CJC

We actually tried that once a couple years ago and supposedly United went through the roof about it. Apparently Saabs are not worthy of the "highly coveted" Star Alliance paintjobs.

What was interesting about it is that it was painted Star Alliance but had no lettering on it...so it was basically just a white Saab.

Fair enough then. IT was something that I though of back when CAL was doing the swapover, that I figured would all work out but apparently egos got in the way.

I hadn't seen a "Q" up-close until last week when we had to repo a "turd" from the terminal to the hangar. I was somewhat underwhelmed by how dirty looking the airplane was, and in the cockpit the Captain's seat looked like someone's Great Dane used to for a chew toy. Very roomy cockpit, but not that much more than the SAAB which I find to be quite comfortable.
Latest and greatest rumor that I have heard is that we will be starting AVL and FAY April 1st and manning a spare in the UEX system out of IAD. Heard rumblings of a BOS base, but not sure how that will work with the system being really disjointed when you throw in the BDL and DCA flying that doesn't go thru a Colgan "hub". According to M.H. though as far as he was concerned they weren't going to close anymore out-stations and 3 weeks later TYR closed. I don't attribute that to M.H. though, whom I believe is a straight-shooter. Base closures are above his paygrade.
If any of you EWR guys see K.H. tell him it's about frickin' time you got in the left-seat and also extend a hearty and deserved congratulations!

Regards,

ex-Navy Rotorhead

Some of the Q's are dirty, but I would say for the most part they are kept pretty clean. When I transitioned from the Saab I was amazed that cleaners came on the plane every time we pulled into the gate at EWR. The outside usually gets cleaned as the plane rotates through ALB. When I was based in ALB it was nice picking up a freshly cleaned Q every morning. For the most part the cleaners did a good job. With the high utilization i'd say its pretty hard to keep them shined up.

Looks like Plattsburgh out of BOS soon as well for the Saab.

Ya its C.O. you can look on the August Pref award under forms and his Emp numbers there. Also looks like the Q is going to CYQM starting on the 18th of Feb. What the heck is up there?

Im sad that you guys are getting YQM. One of my FAVORITE overnights ever. In the summer/spring the weather is fabulous. We did a 30 something hour overnight there. Lots of great pubs, good food choices and a hell of a a trail to run on. I did probably 200+ miles of marathon training up there. Gonna suck if its only a standup for you guys.

Too bad for them...Kinda like YUL and YYZ. I think (or at least before) they only stayed at the airport hotels with short overnights. When your in a cool city but have 747's going overhead all night long...Doin the Colgan.

YQM and YUL just changed to 30 hour overnights, and we are working on hotels downtown, we have a few suggestions from some people. The question is what is safer, a standup to Canada when you have to clear customs both ways (means even less sleep), or a 30 hour overnight which switches from a night show to a morning show...... Me personally I'll take the pm to am switch over a standup to Canada, if it were anywhere else I'd take the standup, I love the commutability.

First page only goes to #53. So, is your question who is the last guy on page 1....or who is #99?

I think he means on the new bid award it shows to pilots that's numbers started with a 9, does that mean they were hired in 2009?

YQM is a popular layover for us at Jazz too. We used to be at the Delta which was a little nicer than the Crowne (I see some xjet guys at the crowne in the morning quite often, I didn't know ASA flew to YQM too). The downtown area is small, but the pubs are great, especially on a nice summers day. The Pump House usually has a few Jazz guys hanging around, drinking some of that awesome blueberry beer.
