Swayne coming to a 121 near you

While I generally agree with the sentiment, those rates and features are in the contract to be used, so I can't get *too* torqued about it.

Still...three? The hell with doing 6 days of extra work...
Everyone’s a ho. Don’t be self righteous because someone else’s price is lower than yours.

FWIW the union’s axe’d the company to open negotiations early too. We’ll see what they say. Otherwise starts in 2020.

I did one day of "OT"last week, got paid more than Swayne makes in a month.
Some people want to work every day of the month, others have want to work as little as possible.

That provision of the contract specifically allows pickups on days off so as long as no one is furloughed. Last I checked, no one was furloughed. When I was FO I couldn't count the number of CAs who did no different than I did and now somehow because we're supposed to hate AS, picking up OT isn't cool. But it was A-okay a short while ago when everything was lovey dovey.

They closed my base and forced a move because their contract isn't built for reserve commuting. Now that I live in base on reserve, I only look at picking up if I am left alone for some reserve days (not used). These 6 days I picked up it was because I was left alone for 6 reserve days and not used. They were regular open time trips, not premium trips. If I hadn't picked it then it would have gone to a reserve anyway. Premium (150%) is when they are desperate because they foresee there won't be a reserve available to do it. Premium only comes out today or tomorrow, never anything beyond that. I haven't picked up a premium trip yet. That is where I can *maybe* see a case of helping them get out in a staffing bind, but here that's not the case.

If I hadn't picked up, I wouldn't have flown since my reserve trip that finished Apr 2nd. Since then I've had a couple vacation days but mostly off days and reserve days that I wasn't used.

This month I'll make more than I did my entire first year at my regional. That's pretty sad, although nowadays regional wages have come up quite a bit due to the ATP rule.

do you get paid any extra for it or does it count towards your reserve guarantee?

It’s all above guarantee. Long call is 75 hr guarantee, short call 79. This month I had long call. You can be converted to short call 4 times and I was converted to 4 max. First one pays 2 hrs above guarantee and the rest pay 1 hr above guarantee. So my rsv guarantee this month went to 80. Plus the three 2-day trips made it 116 hrs credit.

I just finished 5 days of reserve and wasn’t used once. Living 20-35 minutes from the airport, it ends up feeling like days off. Now on my real days off if a day trip pops up, I might take it ;)

For May I got the 1700L rsv line so with a 2 hr callout means at the airport at 7pm. That literally covers the 4 redeyes only. PHL, FLL, IAD, and ORD through SEA (2 leg). I’m hoping not to be used much. From OT I found two 2-day trips and added them. Both show 6-7am and release 12-1245pm, enough to come home and pick son up from school. That makes the month 101 credit for May.

25 minute turns? That’s slacking.

Southwest used to do 20 minute turns.

Back in the 1900 days, Outstation turns were scheduled for 10 minutes, hub turns for 20 minutes.
Granted it was easier on the 1900 because passengers couldn’t wait to get off the plane as quickly as they could.

Sometimes this place surprises me with a 30 minute turn for a full 320.

Turn times are all the rage now.
It is fun when the better half of the alloted time is spent with the jetbridge full of pax waiting for their valet bags.

At my employer 24 minutes is expected for the 145. Interesting that the allowance is 1 minute longer at Envoy. When we still had the Dash 18 minutes was the allotment for the -200.

There have been times we've been ready to board but the pax from the last flight still haven't gotten all their bags yet. I suppose a lot the issue can be blamed on not hiring enough rampers and underpaying them like was discussed in this thread VIDEO: American Airline Employee Calls Passenger 'Killer' After Discovering He's A Cop .
