SWA Assistant Dispatcher Posting

I have heard after the holiday.

On or around December 1st. Best to put the WN job page on redial after Thanksgiving.

Just so you are aware, you WILL NOT be interviewed immediately after the written. You will take the written and go home. Once those results are in and you are selected to continue you will be invited back for an interview and fingerprinting.

Who's on first? :)

When he said "after the holiday", he meant the posting will go up Dec. 1, after the Thanksgiving Holiday.

And while we're on the subject, you get 10 'holiday pay' days a year. You are paid 8.5 hours (of your rate) whether you actually work or not.

Any other questions?

Let's say someone finds them-self in the fortunate situation of being invited to test and ultimately interview. What do you wear to the test and interview?

I've always heard you dress according to the position you are applying for. For this position, I'm thinking suit and tie is appropriate.

BUT.......

I've had the pleasure of visiting the NOC at SWA and I saw shorts, ball caps, t-shirts, etc.....just a very laid back atmosphere. So with that, it makes me think the suit and tie is a bit too stuffy for SWA and better to go with a more laid back, business casual attire??

It's an interview for a career position. Suit and tie. Always.

Hell if men still wore them I'd go all the way with a fedora. Not one of these new hipster hats either.

What about the Bermuda shorts? Didn't changing into these at an interview get five pilots hired at Southwest once? :)

Judging from the past, given such an open window in terms of minimum requirement for applicants. How does SWA figure out who they want or DON'T want for testing?

I'd recommend reading:
Southwest Passage, Nuts and the Southwest Airlines Way.
Also, 48-days To the Work you Love by Dan Miller (the best book on interviewing)

Hecklers2002- I don't know the answer to this, sorry. I can tell you general info about the job (when it will post, basic overviews, etc.), but I can't help you there.

Does HR not give you a copy of the "Nuts about Southwest" during orientation? They did for any Ramp/CS position...

You do indeed receive your very own copy of "Nuts!". It's up to you to chase down Herb to sign it for you though. :)
