SWA Assistant Dispatcher Posting

Not necessarily, but you are working with a smaller workgroup, so there isn't nearly the opportunity that there is on the general dispatch floor. There is overtime to be had though, especially as the assistant pool starts to get depleted with call-ups.

Do assistant dispatchers get CASS benefits? (I know I'm not at all qualified, just trying to satisfy my curiosity)

Most expenses are in the middle of the price range for urban areas, however auto insurance is higher because people here have absolutely no clue how to properly operate a motor vehicle.

Sure you aren't talking about FL? Just got rear ended 2 weeks ago and nearly sideswiped today. Ugh...

I think it's their version of a "trainee". I could be wrong.

Yes. Your'e right. The Assistant Dispatcher means "Dispatch Trainee". Terminology among titles is strange no matter where you go. To this day, Delta's 'Flight Superintendent' still makes me chuckle, as we also have Flight Superintendents, but they do totally different functions.

Yes. Assistant Dispatchers have full CASS benefits.

My guess, AND GUESS ONLY, is that this class will be upgraded in lightning speed.

I noticed someone asked "why so many people"? That's not a mystery at all, when you add flights, you add desks, and you need more Dispatchers. You can expect 4,000 flights A DAY, by next summer.

If you're confused about the pay, do a Google search on TWU550 Contract. Assistants make 74% of the number in the box. Don't forget to add License Premium, Longevity Pay, and your annual Proficiency Bonus.

I'll post when the opening hits Southwest.com on the ADF (Airline Dispatchers Federation) Facebook Page.

Good luck All!

Any idea what the timeline will be like? Testing, interview, class start date, etc?
No idea what this specific timeline is... but in the past. It's a group testing session, where you must make an 80 to pass. If you pass the test, you get an interview. The interviews are usually the week following the test.

Is the test multiple choice or fill in
the blank. How many answers per
question and can you retake the test again if you don't get an 80 and is there a curve like highest person gets a 100 and so on

Suffice it to say the test is a mix of all types of question formats (no long form essays though, so hopefully that is a relief!). It is very fair.

More importantly, for anyone who might be constantly checking the forum for tidbits of information on this or any other job posting, please make sure:

1. Your resume is ready to upload with no errors.
2. Your actual study-to-wargaming ratio is weighted heavily towards studying!

Cheers,
J
