Summer Flying

So looking for something aviation related this summer, and I'm just curious what everyone has done in their summers when they were a wet CFI...
 
I spent my first summer as a CFI flying C-172s out KGEU, sometimes in the hottest part of the day. Good times. :)
 
Flew 120+ hours a month in Phoenix. Flights didn't get grounded unless the tower reported 43 degrees or higher. Drank two full bottles of water per 1.5 hour flight. Melted the soles on two pairs of shoes... the ramp was extremely hot.
 
Sold cars, waited tables while trying to find a CFI job (the airline industry was just starting to recover).
 
So it looks like CFI is the typical route....besides waiting those tables. How did you present yourself to your future employer? I've applied at a few gigs but haven't heard back yet. advice?
 
What part of the country are you in? If it's somewhere that the flying season is summer, I'm sure the employer would appreciate a little extra help when it's busy. If not, let them know your intentions and go from there.

Lots of banner tow and skydive operations ramp up in the summer, might want to look into that too. Good luck.
 
I've still got fall semester to finish school so I feel your pain man. Earlier this year I posted up in the jobs needed section to ask for any CFI summer gigs in my area, and I got in touch with this school in north Florida. I just sent in my resume and gave em a call explaining my summer availability and we've been able to work it out so I get to CFI there for the summer. So just go and ask around!

I'm in Illinois, so really isn't too much banner towing around here. I have got in contact with a skydive operation, but they aren't as busy as I'd like (I have to drive 3 hours roundtrip, only get about 3 hrs a day, one day a week, and the pay only covers gas).

I'm looking into the whole CFI thing, it's just in my home city there isn't much flying (besides a major 141 school that is closing soon and isn't even hiring its own instructors)
 
The CFI will give you more hours, experience, and pay than most gigs if you are low time. Sounds like you might have to move for it though. Look into flying clubs if you can't move.
