Isnt it the worst feelin ever to have to drive to "work" every single day crossing the approach end of a beautiful airport (KAUS) watching those beautiful birds flying right above u , touching down in a puff of smoke in the distance... and telling urself... '.. one day... ' .

I havent flown for 3 months now.. and i feel paralysed... im "working" in a cubicle, tech support, abt 2 miles from the aprt. everytime i drive past that runway i just feel that sense of freedom whn u put the gear "UP", hear it lock in... and its nothing but u and the soothing hummm of those engines...... radio chatter- music to my ears...

god, i wish i was flying.... just .. out of this cube.... up there in that big blue sky. im back to work, save, fly mode....

There's a few of them wishing they were in your spot.

really? pilots wishing they werent flying?? .. i would be glad to switch places :D .. but if ur talking abt guys/gals lookin for work in this crappy economy, then i understand that cuz it took me 3 months to get this job...

I know the feeling too, but I also know a few who have these same feelings, and they bounce from interview to interview, hoping the state won't cut them loose anytime soon.

It hurts not to be able to go fly, I agree, but it hurts a little less if you have a cubicle to go to, even if you realize that the retarded monkeys around you will never even get close to experiencing what you miss so much.

;)

TRUE.. very true.. hehehe...

Haha, I've got a whole 1 hour of flight time within the past 90 days. I mentioned this to my instrument instructor whom will be providing IFR training to me in 3 weeks, and he said not to worry, so I guess I won't. That said, I know what you mean about the planes. Bunch of C5 Galaxies have been flying right over top of my work into RME. They are so loud and low; every time I hear them I just think about how much I hate my job.

When you say "grounded" do you mean medically? Or just that you don't have a flying job or the means to go flying?

I've been furloughed for about 6 months right now, and haven't stepped foot in a cockpit since then. I don't miss nodding off on the approach you're talking about because I just came off a reduced rest overnight, nor do I miss reserve.

I DO miss the Chieftain, though. Jesus that airplane was fun to fly.

Please tell me you don't want to be a professional pilot, because I also don't miss my $19,000 a year pay check.

:yeahthat:

If the management ever finds out, it'll be the end of all of us! :)

yes..dont want a paycheck... i'd fly for food, ill live under the wings :).. and JTRAIN, for me.. nothing would be better than flying for a living. as i always say, If u LOVE what u do, you will never work another day in your life. There is nothing more beautiful than sharing the beautiful sky with the birds that gracefully soar way up high....
