(Stupid) E-Jet questions

No. That has more to do with the fact that most phone cameras and gopros have trouble white balancing quickly. So they balance for the shaded cockpit and the super bright lighted windows get blanked out. Or, if it focuses out the window, the interior of the cockpit is too dark to see anything.

Off topic, but what camera is best at balancing both?

Aka, used newspaper holder.

Pilots are lazy assphincters. No one wants to read YOUR copy of the free USAtoday.

My first "lesson" during OE was after I put my coat back in the "cubby." The check airman looked at me and said, "open your window so you can escape." When the window opened about 6 inches and got caught on my coat he said, "Lesson complete."

I find lots of People magazines back there. Never anything good. :(

I used to see people at XJT put on those company provided, dirty ass DCs without swabbing them down first. Made me cringe a little.

That's the only thing I wipe down every time. Otherwise I'll wipe down only things that are found to be sticky.

Bringing this thread back a bit, I heard that there was a book out there for pilots who are doing E-jet initial type training. Kind of an E-jet basics book. I googled/amazon'd etc and could not find anything. If anyone knows if that really exists that would be good for a lot of guys moving onto that plane soon.

You won't need it.

Typical aircraft systems, automated, easy airplane to learn.

Understanding Speed T vs Speed E is probably the biggest concern and that can be explained a lot better and easier by an instructor than a book ever could.

And vertical direct-to is your best friend...
And if given a short cut do direct to, a quick vertical direct to THEN activate it. I was taught to go into fpa and all this crap when given a short cut " because vnav will freak out". Saw a Captain do the above and was in amazement at something so simple but never taught. Most people probably know it but I never thought of it.

who knew you could do both...mind blown.

Ask 5 captains how to cross Gopher at 11 and you'll get 6 answers.

VNAV was the biggest hurdle for me out on the line. Well, that and taxiing out to 9 in IAH. Ramp-Clearance-Ground-Ramp-Somebodyelse-Somebridge-Somebody-Tower-Go. Whuuut!?

Luckily, FLCH will always get you down. It might get you down 30 miles early, but it'll get you down. :-)
