Students who can't land.

Re: Students who can\'t land.

Try flying the plane down the runway 5-10 feet off the ground and intentionally make the same mistakes the student makes and see if the student can understand the mistakes when you're flying the plane. They'll be able to see it when they're not busy flying the plane. Also try having the student fly 5-10 feet off the runway and not land. Do that a couple times then have them slowly reduce power and add a little back pressure and the plane will land itself.

Re: Students who can\'t land.

I knew a flight instructor that thought that a student that dropped out after 50 hours of dual was better than a student that finished up at 40 hours (with 20 dual).

I'd rather have a student with 40 hrs, (20 dual) that passed the checkride on the first try with my name on his 8710 and reccomend me to 3 friends. Being an excellent instructor will bring more business than milking students 'til they go bankrupt. Students that were happy with their training will be more likely to return for additional ratings.
