Registration just opened today to win the opportunity to buy tickets for the final launch at the major 3 locations near KSC. The registration process is by lottery and open until June 5.

If interested, go here to register -> https://secure.venue365.com/ksc/register.jsp

go here to view ticket prices and info of the different locations -> http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/space-shuttle-launch-viewing-tickets.aspx

the final launch is set to take off on July 8th. we'll see if that truly happens since most launches end up getting delayed at least once :P

I put my name in and hope to be able to be there regardless and thinks we need to get a launch party going!! who's in? :)

I think we should charter an A380 cancel IFR and go do laps over the Atlantic off Florida while getting drunk.

Endeavour was my one shot. I won't have enough leave at my new job to head down for Atlantis ... here's to hoping she's safely postponed for awhile. Military can get out there for free, but need to get credentials ahead of time.

I have just arranged flights for Winnie and me and hotel July6-9...I hope she flies on time. It is during my vacation from the tanker.

It was originally scheduled for launch on the 29th of June. I bid vacation, rented a house in Cocoa, bought airline tickets... and it was delayed. Crap! Still going, can at least get photos of it on the launch pad. I also signed up for the lottery (along with an estimated 800,000 others). If I win I guess i'll buy a few MORE airline tickets for my 5 year old and I. Can't really say no. He may never again in his lifetime see a manned space vehicle launch.

I know what you mean...I saw one before, 20 years ago, because it was delayed a week and it overlapped a trip I already had planned. Winnie has never seen one, sure hope it flies,

I saw one back in college (early 90's)...our engineering organization was able to get a free car pass for the causeway area...i think that was Atlantis too... as long as you were able to get a pass...you could grab a 12 pax van and fit in as many clowns as you like. I think that's still how it works - by the car load.

Dale and Winnie have the advantage though since they could both sign up under their respective last names (2 for the opportunity tour please!)....if anyone else wins one (and i don't), save me a seat please, I'll buy a few rounds (if they have rounds) to keep us distracted till liftoff! :)

shoot, now that i recall....back in the day, i remember them saying you could only see the shuttle *on-site* once in your lifetime and if that is still the case, then i know i'll be out since i've already seen one and they probably have my name in some mega old database as being a pax...i hope that's no longer the case though :P

I saw STS-31... the thirty-fifth mission of the American Space Shuttle program, which launched the Hubble Space Telescope astronomical observatory into Earth orbit. The mission used the Space Shuttle Discovery. It launched 24 April 1990

Depending on what day of the week it is I'll head over. Are you getting tickets for KSC? If you have to get them for the Astronaut Hall of Fame, skip it and go to Titusville. There are WAY too many things blocking the view form the hall of fame. I am going next Friday for a tour of the buildings over there and closer to the launch pad. I'm hoping I can get some good pictures of the shuttle on the launch pad.

You can't really get pictures. It is pretty much completely covered from where they let you go to get pictures. Planning a vacation around the launch rarely works. It is rescheduled 90% of the time.

ah well. Such is life I guess. :( I'll just have to try and enjoy a little vacation in Central Florida.

I know...bummer huh? Well maybe we can find a good viewing place, or hopefully someone here gets tickets?

http://www.jettypark.org/ , it's about as close as you can get without being inside of NASA's playground. Watched a few launches there; gets packed quickly, but you can camp there, so I camped a few days prior.

My mom has a VIP ticket courtesy of my uncle who is a top dog at NASA; guess I'll have to loan her my camera and pretend I took the shots...

We got congressional invites. We'll be there (provided no issues with AirTran out of BKG). Closest hotel we could find was near MCO. If it delays... guess we'll be taking Mini-Me to a very expensive day trip to Sea World.

I'm "planning" to be there, but right now, it's rather anticlimatic for me. Far too many friends and co-workers here at Johnson Space Center are heading down, and given my 13 years training astronauts and this crew individually, it would be nice to hang out and party. . .and I do mean party.

If you don't make said party, can I wear your name tag and pretend to be you at the party? Pleeeeease?!

Would love to see a shuttle launch, but don't really feel inclined to pay for the privilige, as it is my (along with many others) tax dollars that pay for it to fly in the first place.
