Strongbags worth the purchase?

I have the cooler, it has lasted 6 years and finally the cooler liner tore but is still usable. I have been very impressed with the construction and performance of the cooler.

Seems like a lot of money for a +10 bag of holding.

$230 is pretty much dirt cheap for a piece of luggage. The Luggage Works Stealth series are pretty much the industry standard, but I haven't heard a bad thing about Strongbags other than no side pockets.

Briggs and Riley will definitely be my next bag though. Hard to beat the lifetime warranty.

I had a Strongbags and did NOT like it. I much prefer the soft shell based LW or even the TravelPros over the Strongbags. The rigid construction means the outside cloth gets torn extremely easily. I was fortunate that I could return mine for a refund.

The Costco bag is decent for bottom basement pricing. My LW and TP bags have held up fairly well, the LW lasted about four years before needing attention and I ended up having to sew the cover back together in multiple places and using nuts and bolts to hold the frame togeher. After six years I now use it as a spare and when my wife and I travel and use a TravelPro pilot 22 that has done well over the past two years save for the back zipper failing. At three years I'm basically money ahead as the LW was $300 and lasted six (although it was really strung out by then) and the TP was $150. Structurally the TravelPro is holding up well.

I actually greatly prefer the TravelPro setup and compartments over the Luggage Works. With no large 25 lb flight cases to lug around there is no need for a heavy duty bag anymore.

Price is now $170 which is starting to get up there but still has good value.

I have a StrongBag, and it is great. Even though they are heavy it is well balanced, especially if you hang an extra bag off the J-hook. Seems indestructible, my friend dropped his down the stairs on the jetbridge and it was fine.
No problem with fabric tearing in the last 1.5 years as mentioned above

Going on 6 years with my LW and it has a ton of life left. Could maybe use a little refurb but not a must yet.

12 years on my LW stealth. I sent it back for a bit of refurb last year. I'd had to replace the foam handles three times, one set of bearings and one wheel. The 737 under jumpseat storage loves trying to tear apart my side pockets though. I don't understand why there is side railing and bolts under that seat.

10th year on my Strongbag. I am happy with it. I had to have it repaired in the first few months of ownership because of some weak rivets. The customer support was excellent, and the updated bag appeared to have much more support at the corners/joints. No problems since.

My only real complain is the length of it. When commuting it is a tad too tall to fit some overhead bins, so you either need to be the idiot to turn your bag sideways, or check it. I mainly commuted on US Airways (RIP) and Delta. It wouldn't fit wheels in in the older Airbus bins. However, AA has updated most of the interiors, and it now barely fits in wheels first in the new bins. I don't commute anymore, so I'm unsure about other A/C bins.

That's really my only complaint in about 10 years of ownership. I've replaced the wheels once because of rusted out bearings, but other than that it is in good shape.

It's not carrying around a flight case that destroys a bag it's commuting on airplanes that you have to gate check your bag. My 4 years of commuting on the damn CRJ has done a number to my luggage works.

Luggage works

Or Briggs and Stratton like @ian

I have a Briggs & Riley bag, after 20 years - still going strong. They fix it for free, for life. Still use it, and it is light.

The luggage works PNT stealth that replaced it for daily use is better though. It does a great job sitting under my bed now, I've been enjoying not dragging my tired ass through airports - I hope this lasts for while.

Very expensive for what looks like a plastic bag. Looks too large to fit in a CRJ overhead for commuters or regional guys. If I'm spending $400 I want it to fit in all the aircraft and be able to last long term...aka pretty much be a tank.

Just looks like a business professional bag with some high quality features that are way overpriced. My.02

Well it's $100 cheaper than the widely recommended BR bag so that's why I was interested. I'm looking at replacing my LW 22" but it seems like their quality has gone downhill in recent years. Sending it in to get repaired will probably cost $200 with shipping. BR is lifetime repairs for free.
