This crazy idiot is going to run out of gas before he/she finds an airport.

Then he/she is going to crash the damn thing.

And then he/she will have ruined a perfectly good airplane.

Will this stolen airplane stuff never stop??!?! Where is the canadian TSA when we need them? No wonder the US TSA is implementing much stricter measures. JUST so stuff like this cant happen here!

.....Oh yes, I forgot to add: :sarcasm:

This happened a few years back at my airport (TKI)

Guy stole a Cessna, flew it to wherever he wanted to go, parked it and left it after cleaning down the inside with Clorox wipes, bleach, etc

Every FBO in South Texas has a handful of flyers looking for planes that have been stolen and presumed to have gone South of the border. Lock up your planes boyz and girlz when you step in to check the plumbing!!!

Looks like our thief buddy ran off in the woods. Is this an attempt to defect? Seems like their is an easier way than that.

Weird.
I bet he was looking at the orange light flashing on the transponder and wondering how the F-16s found him.

This will be at the forefront of a congressional hearing regarding the risk GA presents to US security.

Great.

Yes, just imagine, some terrorist steals a C172, and flies it into the side of a building... The cost of removing the oil stain on the side of the building will be very expensive...

You pretty much nailed it. http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/01/06/tampa.crash/index.html

The guy broke a window and I think a desk caught on fire. That was pretty much it. In the local news I see people who live on a corner lot get their houses smashed into all the time. I think a Nissan Sentra will do more damage than a Cessna 172.

I'll bet it could take out two... maybe three trees if he tries hard enough.

I checked this ABC article and was about to get blasting with my guns! Thought the Cold Canucks started a war and all we had were chickenhawks!

Heh. I was up flying CPS-MEM while this bozo was doing his low-speed chase. Weirdly, all the military guys were transmitting VHF on center frequency, so I got to hear quite a bit. I guess they were VHF because there were a couple what I'm guessing were Customs citations involved, too (Do they not have UHF?). "Skater", "Omaha", and "Jet", I think... I leave it as an excercise for the reader to figure out who's who. I'm now imagining the F16s tanking up, the KC-10 flying around in big circles, the Citations flying at 5000...your tax dollars at work. Thanks, Cannuckistan!

Incidentally, if you ever hear yourself referred to as a "target of interest", you've been very, very naughty. What, is "bogie" now on the ash-heep of history, along with "suspect"? Sounds too aggressive?

I was talking to ZME this morning and they said they didn't know citations could fly so slow. Those citations were able to basically stay right on his wing. For those who didn't Google Earth where he landed he landing very close to Popular Bluff, MO or about 40 miles northwest of the MAW VOR. Pretty stupid guy.

Does he get to log any of that? :) Ok so seriously, Fox just reported he flew for roughly 6 hours and had an additional 2 hours of fuel? 8 hours of fuel in a C172? huh?
