Sterile cockpit

Beyond a potential training need, why would anyone want to film the cockpit of an airliner (or nearly any aircraft) takeoff/landing? I mean, it's not that exciting.
I'm sure those of us who have yet to fly an airliner will disagree.

The FAA would just be making an example of a few people if they were to crack down. There are thousands of pictures/videos from the cockpit on youtube/facebook/myspace/airliners.net etc.

It's already happening over here. Apparently, some geniuses filmed it, posted it on either YouTube or Facebook, and put the date and flight number there. Gee, that's not gonna be hard to track......

Sure, the FAA might make an example of "a few people." Who wants to take the chance on ti being them? Not me. My career isn't worth a silly YouTube video.

Kinder gentler FAA, with a lot of former ALPA people in very high places...

Sad, makes you wonder if they forgot where they came from.

So you're saying that they should let people break regulations with no consequences simply because they used to be in ALPA?

No, but you'd think they'd work with pilots and the airlines more. If there is a violation, there are two choices, you can hammer the person/carrier, or you can work with them to make corrective actions and provide reasonable solutions to problems. The current group seems to be more the former than the latter, plus imposing regulation that is burdensome when there is no indication of a problem. Lack of "real world" thinking.

Personally, I have not had an issue, but I do pay attention to what's going on.

Everything comes around to it's start point. I remember during the late '80s when the FAA became the zero-tolerance FAA....before being the "kinder-gentler" FAA. Guess it's back around again.
