Stalking is bad, mm’kay

I’d definitely use an sat-phone (as installed) instead of yapping on VHF for something like this. Or — I know it’s not encrypted but it’s a little more non-trivial to eavesdrop upon — I’d want to use ACARS instead.

(Actually I am sort of surprised given our WiFi equipage that we don’t have some way to use that to talk more securely/encrypted to the ground.)

Whatever. At least they didn’t call in fatigued over VHF.

Calling in fatigued over acars is the way to go /s

I only know two members here at FedEx - one is a guy who pines for old Lears and the other is the JC Wunderkind who was logging MTPIC time while still in Pull-ups and nursing. So until further notice I gotta assume one of the two is the stalker.

I bet whoever it is, everyone they know will be zero percent surprised when they find out what they did. We all know “that guy.”

I don't fly a Gulfstream though! If you can get datalink weather, you can likely send a datalink message. I have always been a big fan of both pilots being locked in on their essential flying duties below 10k because that's when most of pilot deviations likely occur. It's a reason why most operators require a sterile flightdeck 10k and below. But this is just my opinion and howcI operate. I'm not saying that how others operate is wrong.

Just wait until it’s CPDLC or GTFO! :)

Extra features = extra costs. We don’t even have datalink message capability on our Challengers. But we do have sat phones on about 2/3 of our fleet so *shrugs. Making an in range call to the FBO is apart of every single one of our approach checklists which is supposed to be completed at 18k. I will say we don’t talk much about sterile cockpits below 10 in our safety meetings or as part of our safety culture. It kind of just happens organically but isn’t a cardinal sin if violated.
