Anyone giving internal recs? Or know the chance of going to job fair and getting on with no internal?

Anyone giving internal recs? Or know the chance of going to job fair and getting on with no internal?

Obviously having internal recs are preferred. However, I know people have gotten hired recently without a rec by attendance at the job fairs. It should also be noted, regardless of rec/ no rec......HR personnel mentioned recently the ONLY way to get hired is through attendance at a job fair. Apparently they want to 'put faces to names' and are doing so through the job fairs. It's frustrating, for sure. But, if that's what they want, and you're interested in being considered for employment at Spirit, then my suggestion is to jump through their hoops and get to at least one job fair.

Yep bid weekends off for jan headed to Vegas any other jc'ers going?

I'm going to be there in Vegas in January. I only have 700 hrs total time and am currently instructing, but I figure heading to a job fair before I am looking for a job just to meet people and talk about their companies will be a breath of fresh air for them. Could be I'm just full of it though. I am really curious to find out what these job fairs are going to look like, I figure a stack of business cards, professional attire and some research on the different companies there?

Research the companies and turn your stuff into regionals you are interested in. They may or may not call depending on their mins and who they have on file at the time. You never know unless you try. The worst they can do is not call you.

Does anybody have a link for this January job fair in Vegas? I found a couple of things online, but want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing before I buy a ticket. thanks.

only in the aviation world - one would have to pay to get into a job fair. Aero crew could easily charge all the recruiting airlines and not have to charge our pilot pool, who do not make a whole lot to begin with. I have never heard/witnessed in the world of IT or business.

Regardless, wish you all the best of luck!

AirTran used to do things the same way. Getting the interview was the hard part. You usually had to attent multiple career fairs so they could get a good feel for you. The interview was relatively painless, but it was a major pain to get to that point. Kit Darby got a bunch of my money in the process. :)
