Spirit MEC shenanigans

Didn't realize I had to choose. Is it within the realm of possibility that they can do/be both?

Possibly, but not necessarily. Union elections are often popularity contests that have absolutely zero way of ensuring people who know what they are doing end up in the important positions. Over time guys with no experience can certainly learn, but just prior to a section 6 is not the time for that to occur.

Did the new guys have serious committee or leadership experience prior to being put into power?

Ya they had lots of experience within ALPA at other carriers and some within the committee structure here at spirit.

I am concerned about the timing as well but not unhappy with change. I just kind of wish it was down the road a bit especially considering the unique circumstances we are in.

I just wish I could find out exactly why they were kicked out to start with. Also the timing couldn't have been worse, though I'm sure management is loving it, between this and that crappy loa that passed this is their dream.

@sherpa, didn't one of those that lead the recall admit to recording union phone calls? That could very well be illegal.

Yes. But he claims to have used an app to only record his side/his voice so later he could take notes of what he said.

This guy upgraded at Spirit at 29, and wrote on Facebook that God had promised him a left seat of a jet 9 years ago, and how it didn't happen at the Learjet air ambulance place he worked, how it didn't happen at Pinnacle, but now instead of upgrading into a Learjet or RJ he was upgrading into an Airbus. And how that when God makes a covenant, he is setting you up for success in ways you just don't know yet.

He's a little out there....

Are you talking about JL (the one who taped the conversations) posting THAT on FB??? If so, Wow!

His wife appears to have left the wives group.

Got it, thanks. No perspective as he was hired 2/2012. All he says is that the contract is concessionary. I have the peer sets still from 2010. USAIRWAYS CA on the 321 topping out at $126/hr. Benefits much worse then and even worse now.

Recording union calls? As in calls from pilots? I believe he recorded tsome calls In order to keep track of the things he needed to follow up on in these calls that he would take while driving.

I was hired a year later. Do I also lack perspective? I and almost everyone else in the industry are well aware of what U.S East guys made as well as what all the bankruptcy era pay rates were.

New to spirit does not mean new to the industry. Don't understand why folks here don't seem to understand this concept. There are new hires here with over 20 yrs in the industry who have seen every play in the book. Do they lack perspective?

Why do you even care? You don't even work here

Are the the ex mec guys your buds?

I used to be the SPA EVP. I knew them all well, and I knew them to be some of the best intentioned, most experienced union guys around. And yes, it pisses me off to have some amateurs come in and crap on them.

No, but if someone is allegedly 29 and a 2012 hire, I suspect they do lack perspective. From the posts of the angry 1%, I know that to be true.

The MEC message wasn't very inspiring and showed a lack of knowledge of the process.

And the fact that the MEC meeting is scheduled in VA really encourages transparency. Where's the sarcasm icon?!

Well I vote for these reps and they represent me. And in this case they represented me and most I speak with about union stuff well. Your saavy friends did this too themselves, from the sounds of things, by treating the elected reps as nothing but a bunch of "amateurs" as you call them instead of understanding who they work for.

Just as bad managements get the militant unions that they deserve, uninformed and unreasonable pilots get the crappy unions that they deserve. Enjoy.

I guess I'm uninformed. That is the only possible reason for my position in the matter. Our leadership was top notch. Jeezus. Really? I feel like you're taking this way too personally.
