Anyone here interviewing with Spirit the 23rd or anyone here interview on the 7th of this month? I'm going on the 23rd and was just looking for current info and insiders perspective beyond "the gouges are good".

My interview was over 3 years ago but I hear it’s still pretty much the same. That said it was a very laid back and easy process. No gotcha questions just some TMAAT questions and getting to know you. I hear they may ask you to brief an approach chart or something along those lines now but I imagine you got that covered. Just be nice, honest and come off as a happy go luck guy or gal and that’s pretty much all you can do. The worst part of the interview is waiting to get a
call:)......or an email:(. Best of luck.

The consensus from friends who successfully interviewed there seemed to be: don't be the weirdo who doesn't play board games and won't interact with the rest of the candidates and you've pretty much got the job.

Correct. How I fooled 'em I'll never know, but another thing to make clear is that you actually want to work here. I did have a scenario-based question—captain wants to descend below DA without visual references—which was an interesting thought experiment.

2.5 years ago the gouges were on point almost to a fault. During the interview they really try to get to know you as a person, it's very straightforward, no surprises. Just be yourself, interact with the others, play the games while waiting for the actual interview, have a god time.

Everyone wants to come to Spirit because of the growth we are experiencing. A good question is "other than the growth why do you want to come to Spirit?" They really really want people that will come and stay for a long time, not jump ship 6 months later. It has been nothing but a positive experience for me so far, it has been an amazing place to work.

I heard this "I have no idea how I got my job, but I did" from I friend who's been at Spirit for 3 years. He said its a common sentiment there! I think we can all say that about most interviews since we are our own worst critics. Looking forward to this interview.

Haven't heard anything yet, a week is typical. The info out there is correct, they are looking for people who fit their quirky nature and who are planning to stay for a while. It's more of a personality interview than anything else. They want to know you'll be a good fit and can get through the condensed training footprint. I largely enjoyed my experience on Spirit to and from the interview, we shall see.

Coming and getting to know the place was interesting, I thought. It's not quite Southwest, but it has a lot more personality and flavor than the majors I've dealt with.

Someone described it as the home of the misfits the other day, which works for me. Good luck, wishing you the best.

Well, I received the thanks but no thanks from Spirit. The worst part is not knowing why. Well, at least I still have a job and I can complete my degree this semester instead of putting it off. Thanks to all for the well wishes.

Well shucks, sorry to hear that. Thanks for spending some time getting to know the place, though.

If this is the job you want, this is the time to get it. Could you try to reach out to someone in HR or recruiting and ask them if they could possibly debrief you on the results? That way you know what to work on for next time, and it will show that you care about the job enough to know how to correct the issues that impeded you from success. I’ve heard it can take a couple of swings to make contact at Spirit.

It seems many still view the LCC’s as a stepping stone, which isn’t anything wrong with that if you’re truly gunning for the top 3. However, if the interview panel can sense that then they will be reluctant to hire you. Not at all saying that’s what you did, as I have no idea what your goals are. Just saying right now the resume stacks are deep at the LCC’s since the last round of contracts, that’s allowing them to pick and choose the ones that have the... Spirit..

They will not let him know why he wasn't chosen. It's a legal reason. Or something like that, I've been told.

A quick Google on asking a company why you didn't get a job says that companies don't like to give that information because it could be used against them in legal action. Nothing says its blatantly illegal or mentions anything like that. I'll reach out to the recruiter I talked to. All they can say is no or not reply.

Sucks man, but keep on keeping on. I got turned down by Spirit years ago as well, it hurts, but just keep working and you’ll eventually land where you are supposed to!
