Spirit interview

I think you guys were trolled but who knows.

I didn't click the link, but if it came from that David Lombardo guy or any entity he's involved with - I'd trust 7 day old gas station sushi before I'd trust anything that guy does.

I’ve deadheaded on a delta flight where the captain gave us a PA almost exactly like this one. He included hours, years in the service , and even included his FOs information since he was a military pilot as well.

I was nearly in tears.

I get it, you’re proud of your service and your career and you have every right to be. But no one or few people care. I have my canned “Welcome aboard” speech for the pax that do care and it’s short.

I think the average traveler still puts a lot of weight on it, although it's kind of silly to me since we're all basically driving the same bus through the skies. One of the most common questions I get from random passengers is "did you learn to fly in the military?" I'm not sure how to take it, mostly for the reason that I'm not even 30 and apparently I look so old I could have theoretically flown a full 10+ year commitment in the military.

In this crazy industry you can't rule anything out. You might still end up being a Spirit pilot, although I hope the two of our companies merge. I would have never guessed who I work for now is where I would have been when I signed up.

Wait, I though everyone expects Spirit to merge with Frontier?

You want Spirit to merge with Alaska?

Either way, Frontier Spirit or Alaskan Spirit would be decent company names.

A thought on the original post: I can reapply in 6 months, am I thinking wrong that I might not want to do that? The only thing that will change on a personal note in 6 months is I will have my BA done, which NK doesn’t care about. But I feel that if you’re hiring like mad now and don’t want me, why should I try again when nothing will have changed? Spirit would be fine, I was digging the place when I was fairly confident in getting the job. But not being selected kind of soured me a bit, to put it mildly. I still think Spirit could be a good place, but I’m not as enthusiastic about it now.

I thought the interview went well enough, but apparently it didn’t, as mentioned you just don’t know. Am I wrong to feel wronged and not want to retry? It’s not like Spirit was a dream carrier for me, I took the opportunity to interview because it was presented and would have been good had it all worked out . I don’t have a “dream carrier” in other words. I’d just like to move on from my current regional, the next company hopefully being my last. Try again? Find my dream carrier and narrow my focus?

"We are f— overjoyed to be a part of your journey [not even close]!"

I mean...do you want to work here? Like, more than being an RJ driver, that is.

If yes, reapply.

If no, don't.

30 goto 10, and so on.

I'll admit I was a little indifferent to it until I showed up for my interview and actually met the people. Sure, it was probably a little kool-aidy, but I still very much like working here, and when I compare it to my former job, yeah, this is a win. Your mileage may vary and void where prohibited.

I would interview again. I think most people will interview at the first carrier that calls but they want to see that you really want to be there. I’m preparing for a interview at my dream carrier and the biggest thing I’ve learned is expressing how much I want to be there even though this is my dream airline. Don’t leave any doubt in the recruiters mind that you may not want to be at their airline. I’ve seen a lot of people at my airline bitter after interviewing and not getting the job at a major. It’s hard work and I can understand why someone may be upset. Put that energy into coming back in six months and knocking it out or applying/interviewing somewhere else.
