Speaking of cheap pilots....

...... I'm just up the road from the marina and would be willing to volunteer purely for the joy of knowing I'd be helping someone out. No ulterior motive here, none at all. In fact, I don't even like boats. :D

Gee, your offer is touching! I'll ask.

On another note, it may need a little more care than he originally thought. I heard tonight his reserve squadron (F-16's) was put on alert for deployment to Iraq....fourth tour. He was due to retire June 1. Doesn't know if they are going to make him go again or not. Supposedly once your unit is "officially" alerted all detachments/retirements go out the window for the duration.

He is not a happy camper.

I don't have a crashpad yet. I very casually looking as I'm trying to balance the convenience factor of a crashpad versus the cost of a commuter hotel in the next few months.

I have a line in June. Basically, I smashed 12 days of flying into one block in the middle of the month. One commute in, two 3-day FRA's, then a 6-day CDG and I'm done! :)

No "30 in 7" international!

I told you I'd rent you my living room, less then 10 mins to the airport. Not sure how much longer I'm going to be living here though, hopefully the FAA will call me soon and tell me I'm the one they've been waiting for.lol :rawk::rawk:

"Needs of the service" rears its ugly head again. That sure is some crappy news to get so close to The Day; especially after 3 tours.

I did 14 days on the USS KITTY HAWK and that was about 13 1/2 days too long. So when it was time for orders I picked planes that didn't have a tailhook so I could "deploy" but only to places that didn't require port/starboard watch sections.

Thanks for the info...I learned something new today!

I could be convinced to fly to NYC on a regular basis...NYC rocks! But since Jack's friend will be in my Long Beach, the offer still stands. :D

gna, whatcha got against carriers? I spent twelve wonderful months onboard the USS Ranger (CV61) Top Gun of the Pacific Fleet. It was a blast. Actually made her last cruise before decom. I was close to staying in, but my orders (had I stayed) were to the ship (not boat) ;) parked right behind us......USS KittyHawk. I just didn't have the urge to go right back to sea for another West-Pac. I needed a break.....after.....Yokosuka, Pusan, Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali, Dubai, Perth, Sydney, and Pearl Harbor. Had to get my legs back before heading out.

Ummm.... It's 3:11am Central time... and guess where I am...

SAT crew room... Pairing ended last night at 11:45pm... and my flight home to DFW is at 6:00am...

So... I wouldn't say I'm "Cheap" necessarily... I'm quite probably just being too lazy to drag my bags outside of security to attempt to find a reasonably priced hotel... and track down a van or taxi in order to get maybe 2-3 hours of sleep before getting back to the airport for my flight home.

Hey... at least there is free internet... and I've go the whole place to myself! :) (ummmm... that's about the only good parts...)

Bob

OK... yeah... I'm cheap... ;)

Bob, that's not cheap. That's smart.

Now, if you got in at 8:45 and you didn't have to leave until 10:30, that'd be different.:)

I wonder if an air mattress would fit into your luggage? :D

Hmmm...the USS Ranger, eh? ;) :)

BTW, some ships are docked here on Staten Island for fleet week and I hear the ladies here are showing the sailors some Big Apple hospitality.:rawk:
You should PM FutrLftSeat82. He was offering personal tours of the USS WASP (LHD-1):
Anyone that is in/from NY and would like to tour Navy LHD.

As far as cheap, convenient overnight accomodations, I always wondered whether one of those Japanese-style Capsule Hotels located in or near the airport would work for commuters. ;)
