In the interview process they will let you know it will be 2 years before you can move out of the position. They know that a lot of people go into that position just to jump ship once dispatch opens. They want to get some time out of you first. Another option for Southwest could be the Operations agent position. It is only one year before you can leave and you deal with the flight plans and weight and balance on a daily basis. Not sure on the pay range.Where does it say a 2yr commitment?
I used to be an ops agent at swa. At the DAL station, they start at $10 something and top out at like $25 ish? Most of the guys there have their dispatch certs and I know of one guy that made it over to dispatch. He was an ops agent for 20+ years lol

Which brings you back to the question of whether to dispatch somewhere that's not your dream job or go work for the company that you want to dispatch for 1 day in hopes of getting into dispatch. To each their own but I'd rather dispatch somewhere rather than grovel for a job that I may never get.But it's still Southwest Airlines. There are any number of career fields open to you once you get in the door.
The only companies will take internal over qualified, experienced DX’s are DElta, jetblue and fedex.
'Murican hiring too. https://www.indeed.com/m/viewjob?jk=27309605919aca30&from=serp

Oh man. Its tempting just to have a chance at being hired internally for dispatch one day, but I'm ready to work dispatch now and gain experience.
Any idea what AA pays their new crew schedulers?
Going to work as a crew scheduler does not empty the options box for the future. You can put in a couple years and still go somewhere else to work as a Dispatcher.
This is true but you may lose company seniority and any/all other benefits that have been earned/offered. One could be stuck in CS longer than they wanted, is the change in financial status, to include a possible move, worth it?
