You're going to waste your time getting upset that people leave electronics on during takeoff and landing??? Have you ever been to youtube??

Oh I'm not upset. I think you are being disrespectful of the hardworking men and women who are flight attendants. Remember, they are there for your safety. If they have to constantly go around nagging folks about their seat belts, PEDs, etc., there is less time to serve the customers. You are making that person's job more difficult.

I would personally love to see FAA inspectors ride in the back and write people fines for taking off their seatbelts during aircraft movement on the surface.

I don't think that posting a video (which, of course doesn't show the whole story) and saying "the FA was having a bad day" is going to win you any points around here considering that those passengers were not in compliance with crewmember instructions...

-You were wrong for using a camera when all PEDs are to be turned off.
-The flight attendant was just doing his job to ensure people's safety.

If there's a fed onboard, they're going to get fined. Personally. And the company will not reimburse them for it.

When you're pimpin' $20G's a year, a $5000 fine is a lot of money for "trying to be cool" to a passenger.

Standing up while the aircraft is taxing is a very very big safety hazard. The way the planes can violently come to a stop could get a standing passenger severely injured and/or killed. The FA was 200% right in calling that one out.

Now as far as having your camera out and recording an approach and landing I do not see how in the world that is a safety hazard.

Doug - I'm not talking about the FA getting fined. There's only so much you can do to make a passenger sit down. The fine schedule that I quoted from is about giving the fine TO the passenger who commits the violation. In fact, the table I quoted above also proposes a fine to those who operate PEDs....

It may or may not be a safety hazard. As far as we know, PEDs aren't "safe" for aircraft electronics especially when in the sterile cockpit environment (10,000 feet and lower). Your mileage may vary with your opinion on this, however, we've been selling it as if it interferes for years.... "thems the rules"....

Also, the only way to get stuff like EFBs approved (to prove no electronic interference) is to do proving runs and have a specific Ops Spec signed off. I have not seen an airline yet make an effort to do proving runs with passenger PEDs so that they can be used...

I remember one time on JetBlue back in 2006 (coming back from Ft. Lauderdale). We were less than 1 minute to touchdown. Some Dumb Pax got up and started to adjustsomthing overhead. THe FA said somthing like "SIR WE ARE LANDING GET BACK TO YOUR SEATS!" on the interphone

What happens if you have a passenger stuck in the can? Say a return flight from Cancun or something? Do you tell ATC you need to hold, or what?

I can't imagine someone actually getting stuck in the bathroom. But if that were the case, declare an emergency (probably) and you're golden, as far as "not having them seated"...

Sometimes it's better to just keep your mouth shut instead of nagging on someone who is looking for nothing more than self-fulfillment. Lets just say that there are some people's "points" I never intend to nor care to achieve.

Excuse me? Keep my mouth shut? lol Sure...

But.... what was the point of the post. Were you doggin on the FA or what?

Think of it like working a roller coaster at "Coaster Kingdom":

a: Get 'em in their seats
b: Check that they're strapped in
c: Make sure their arms are in the car
d: Launch
e: Make sure they exit safely
f: Start over at "a"

Flight attendants, especially those that are working six legs that day, don't have time for 50-plus different stories of noncompliance with the FAR's on every leg! :)

And we don't have time to be getting "uhh I've got a pax in 23D who isn't doing xyz command".... we'd never get anywhere!

I promised I would keep my mouth shut (which I guess was misunderstood) but can someone PLEASE tell me where I was "doggin" on the FA...that was not my intention at all and apologize if it was taken in that manner. I simply said he was having a bad day, which yes was a broad statement, but did not criticize his actions or his job. If there is something I said that was misleading, and unintentional, please directly inform me.

As long as there's time for the FO's strong coffee, with two creams, no sugar, and only stirred once, please . . . preferably 10 minutes after leveling off at cruise and before the coffee gets stale!

:D

Oh shoot, I'm a "light cream, don't even stir it" type. If they're from the south, I usually say, "Ah ah ah! I'll pour the cream in myself" Wazzup with Southerners liking "a little coffee with their cup of hot milk?" :)
