And you don't fly for a wholly owned? Good luck!!!!!
90 spots per year from compass and 84 from Mesaba
174 spots already taken. If
200-300 precious spots per year for the rest of the industry when they start hiring. Thats your punishment for picking the WRONG REGIONAL to work for.
Don't get me wrong you can still get hired but its going to be a lot harder for the rest of us pee ons
If I worked for Comair I would be pissed if Delta is where i wanted to work.

What if, tomorrow, some catastrophic event occurred that caused Delta to furlough 1500 pilots and the flow went the other way flushing all current Compass pilots, sending a few to Mesaba, but not touching the rest?

Then which regional would be the wrong one?

Several things point to "wrong regional to work for"....

have you seen our flight attendants?!?! *hurl*
have you seen our travel benefits?!?! hahah I LOVE PURCHASING ZED HIGH! On the carrier I'm supposed to represent, of course!
have you seen/heard what the gate agents and other airline employees do to us? Had a Delta gate agent tell me that he hopes Pinnacle's contract gets canceled. Have also been forced to switch gates to help sabotage our on-time performance. Also been forced to open the door after block-out because some passenger left their laptop in the terminal, at cost to our on-time.... had Comair pilots abuse us over the radio; had ASA pilots abuse us over the radio, AND block our taxi in (two separate incidents)...

Gotta love being non-wholly-owned regional feed for Delta. I am pretty sure that the main lesson I've been taught is that to everyone, including the passengers, I'm not worth the dirt that anyone can stand on... just ask some of the aforementioned FAs about trips to places like White Plains.

Some reality about your numbers:

1- the first 300 or so slots are reserved for the furlough bypass guys. Before any flows get in.

2- At the height of any hiring cycle, Delta has put through close to 700 in a year. Factor in traditional NW hiring overlap, with two training centers, we could get close to 1000 bodies in a year. There are plenty of slots for those qualified, regardless of where they work.

Everyone needs to calm down. THis isn't going to happen anytime soon. According to some suits in the lounge yesterday, Ddepending on how the economy and company do in 2010, they are TENETIVELY looking to maybe start hiring in October of 2010. Plenty of time to get yourself squared away for an interview. It's gonna happen, you just need to be patient.

Stay classy.

Ok I want to appologize - i hope that from reading most of my posts, everyone realizes i am a down to earth guy. I got a little excited and carried away with this flow through thing. Sorry Mesaba and Compass guys I meant no disrespect to you and wish you the best.

Well you apologize.... but I never got an apology from the gate agent, or the Comair guy, or the two ASA guys. Stay classy ya'll.

Rex, there's a'holes at every airline out there. They don't act or speak for the rest of us.;)

I guess I'm just naive.... as DCIs.... we're all in this "together" more or less. We're all subject to Delta's marketing department and whoever pulls the strings at the top... and yet we're all trading barbs???

Now I'm not perfect by any means, but I try to be as courteous as possible on the taxiways for example... there was a Caravan the other day instructed to wait for us to pull up to our gate before they could exit the ramp.... Captain, being a richardhead, decided he was going to stay put until the rampers showed up... well away from the gate. I glanced to my right, and noted that there was plenty of clearance, and told ramp that there was room for them to pass off our right if they'd like....

Don't take that story as me tooting my horn, I'd just like to point out that it'd be nice if once in a while fellow aviators even at the competition would set aside their "differences" once in the cockpit...

Wise words. Had a couple of Comair guys deadhead on our bird last night, you would have thought someone had just shot their dog or something. I hadn't seen guys that down trodden for a long time.

On the other hand, jumpseated with one of the funniest and nicest UAL crews I have seen in a long time yesterday morning. Go figure!

I'm gonna pick apart this last statement right here.

If you worked for Comair, you should be hacked that Comair management is doing more to keep you flying. You should want to work for Comair.

I work for Eagle because I want to work for Eagle. Maybe someday I'll want to work someplace else. In the meantime, I focus on where I am.

This stepping-stone mentality is a joke and it's at OUR expense.

The Comair guys have been beaten, and I can certainly understand why they feel like they've lost their dog.

I certainly realize this, but these guys were especially salty. Didn't help that my FA was about to have a mental breakdown since our company was re-flowing her and she was in a pissy mood too. It was a negative energy monster and I was happy to escape :)

Look at his statement on the United crew. Lost pensions, 2000 furloughs.... Professionalism shows up in all aspects of a crew.

If you want to live ticked off about things you can't help, that is your choice. Or you can do what you can about it and live your life the best way possible.

I agree with what you say in regards to where you work. When Pinnacle jacked stuff up or whatever, I didnt get ticked at NWA. I got ticked at the idiots that ran our company.

I disagree with your statement on the stepping stone mentality. Regionals are set up to be stepping stones and will never be anything more unless you start later in life or get "stuck." Their existance is based solely on going for the lowest cost to get outsourced flying from mainline companies. Under the way things are now- no matter what great contract you get, they will NEVER be anything more.

Personally, I'd be perfectly fine just stapling all the pilots from the DCI regionals as they are now as long as they meet are min quals (which aren't very high at all... I met Southernjets min quals when I got hired by Pinnacle) and call it a day. Stepping stone problem solved.

Well, I'm certainly not saying it's right. . .

But emotions are emotions. Nothing any of us say about it are going to change how someone else, who has been beaten down, feels.

Now, I also don't necessarily see anything wrong with people getting pissed off about how the way their management teams are running their companies. People need to get pissed off, otherwise things will remain the same - employees treated like garbage and not respected.

Just curious, where do these figures come from?
