GougeBusters tip! (Shoutout to Derek Brannock for the name)
At a recruiting event earlier this year we had several candidates tell us that an interview prep company was telling people they wouldn't have a chance at an interview unless their application was over 16 pages. Or maybe it was 18 pages, it doesn't really matter. We thought this was pretty strange, since none of us count the pages of an application. If you've heard this too, rest assured, we don't have any requirement, or even a preference, regarding the length of your application.
Naturally, this company was willing to help people overcome this hurdle for a small (large) fee. If they're willing to say something this bizarre to try to drum up business, who knows what else they're telling candidates. Like we said last week, we want to hire safe, professional aviators who are good people, and that has nothing to do with how long a person's application is. To that end, our having an arbitrary page number requirement wouldn't even make any sense.
With this, like with some of the other gouge out there, if it doesn't seem to pass the common sense test there's an excellent chance it isn't true. If you suspect you've heard any other whoppers please send us a message so we can help put bad rumors to rest, we don't want you to end up like this guy!
